(Proposal) Agressive offseason!!! #6 we have a 4-5 year window

Recommended Posts

So jim wasn't lying, kudos to a man that makes drastic changes without breaking the bank (or the future)

*I made a mistake in my OG post with ferland no on LTIR

But we still have lots of work to do, we still need to clear space.

Trade Holtby to phili for a 4th, with conditions that turns into a 3rd if Holtby plays above .910

Buyout Jake.

Major Signings

Codi Ceci, 4*3.9 dependable defenceman * edit

Juolevi 7th D 2*875000

Broissoit Our new backup 2*2

NICE!

You put a lot of thought into this and I like your ideas a lot.  I think your cap hit projections are quite accurate.

I love your suggestions of Hakanpaa and Paquette.  Not only do they fill our needs quite well, but they could also be had at your suggested cap hits (or fairly close to that I’d imagine).

1) For that 4th line C spot, I have a feeling that Benning will try and bring Sutter back since he’s a RH shot and kills it on the face off dot.  Sutter can also score goals at a decent 4th line level.....something that Paquette seems to struggle with.

2) I’m not sure if Schmidt will stay although I hope he does.  If he is destined to move on however, I’d like to see a top pairing RD ‘defensive defenseman’ come back in return.

3) On your line combos, I like your idea of keeping Pearson with Bo.  Hoglander and Garland playing together could end up being too small, while Podkolzin playing with Pearson and Dickinson could stifle Podkolzin’s offensive game.  Putting Hoglander on that line also allows Dickinson to utilize some of his hidden offensive upside perhaps.

4) I get the feeling that Brossoit will be gone by the time we find a new home for Holtby but perhaps I’ll be proven wrong!

Good work though.   I could really get onboard with Hakanpaa replacing Hamonic.

I'd have Hoglander on the second line and Pearson on the third. I don't think Hoglander will be used to his full potential if he's playing alongside the defensive minded Dickinson, and Pearson is a pretty reliable defensive forward.

I also do think we should try and move Schmidt for a defenseman that fits our lineup a bit better, if possible.

How much are we retaining on Holtby? No chance Philly takes him at full price.

I changed the structure, maybe you may like it more now

Disagree that we have a 4-5 year window.  Benning still has the potential to make this an 8-9 year window and I suspect that this is what he’ll do as guys like Pearson, Miller, and Myers continue to get replaced with younger talent over the years.

major moves will have to be made and benning won't be here for them

Doesn’t mean that our window has to be closed after 5 years.  Benning and ownership have stated all along that they want this team to be elite for a long time and all moves being made will be specifically geared towards that. Don’t be fooled by these two first round picks being traded.
