SEATTLE KRAKEN

October Stars

before it gets too far behind us, first month is always easy... production is king.

1st star - Markstrom is everything we set out to find in a full time goalie.
2nd star - Forsling has stepped passed the competition to earn top pairing rights

3rd star - Anthony Duclair has had a great start, and seems to have a goodie bag of skills for the future... and the organization just loves that contract.  Arguably one of the best value contracts in the league.

MAPLE LEAFS PRESS CONFERENCE

REPORTER:
Crabby, how excited are you to bring in arguably the best player in the NHL?

CRABBY:
Man words cannot describe the excitement we are feeling bringing this guy into the group. We have really turned a corner in recent months, and this deal is just the cherry on the top. We just hope we made the fans proud, and hope we see immediate results. We feel we have a team that can contend now if healthy. Depth has been a glaring hole for us ever since Jack went down with an injury, but our hope is we can overcome that and get in to the playoffs. With this team, if we get in, no1 better sleep on us, I can tell you that much!

REPORTER:
You entered this offseason in an obvious rebuild situation. Your future core looked to be pretty good, but we all thought you guys were still years away. How did you manage to go from "years away" to "going for it now"?

CRABBY:
When we took over this team we had a group of aging vets and seemed to be in a syate of mediocrity. A few days after we got the job we had an opportunity to add Crosby, and we took it. Unfortunately things didn't work out for us, and we decided to tear things down and get younger. We were after drafting Lafreniere and Byfield, and had a young Adam Fox so we already had a young core foeming. We traded Crosby along with a lot of other vets and accumulated a lot of young players, prospects, and picks. We went into the draft hoping to draft Luke Hughes, and lucky for us we ended up getting him. That move ultimately lead us to approach Detroit and Vegas to try and acquire the other 2 brothers. We already seen the brother magic with the Sedin twins in Vancouver, we couldn't pass on the opportunity to add a trio of brothers. They may not be twins, but they defiently have chemistry out on that ice. We felt we already completed our future core, but once McDavid became available, we just felt it was the time to go "all in" and get a deal done at all costs. We gave up a lot of pieces, and futures, but we feel we gathered enough assets this past year we could afford it. We now have all 3 Hughes brothers, arguably the best goalie prospect in hockey (Askarov), Darnell Nurse, Rasmus Andersson, and just added the best player in the world, and possibly best ever to that group for the foreseable future. We are just extremely excited to see this team grow, and feel Toronto fans can now enjoy hockey like most of them never have!

REPORTER:
How do you plan to address the obvious depth concerns the team is currently facing?

CRABBY:
We have been in talks with numerous GMs about adding some pieces to the group.  We want to try our best to win this year, but as always keeping an eye on the future. We moved out a lot these past couple months, so pieces are thinning out. We want to keep youth cycling through the organization, because imo that is how you sustain long term success. We just have to remain patient until the right deal comes along. No matter what happens this year, we feel we are going to be in serious contention next season. For now our focus remains on just getting these guys some playoff experience.

REPORTER:
What are your plans for the offseason?

CRABBY:
Our #1 goal is to lock up Quinn, and Jack for the foreseable future. After that we want to have a solid draft. We dont have a 1st this year, so im putting the scouting team to work to find thise hidden gems. Then we are hoping to add the right pieces in free agency to help put us over the top. If we can add some good depth to this roster, I feel very good about our chances. Thats all you can really ask for!

REPORTER:
#Crabbyforgmoty is trending on twitter, what does that mean to you as a sophomore GM?

CRABBY:
Lets just see how things turn out before we start stating the obvious. We are just happy we added excitement to our fanbase, and hope 1 day soon we bring Toronto their 1st GML cup! We promised a fast rebuild. We hope we delivered with this move!

REPORTER:
Will there be a statue built for McD...

CRABBY:
Already built!
