Was the Sundin team better than the 2011 team on paper ?

Lets lighten the mood a bit and talk about when we were a dynasty. :)

On paper, what was the best team of the Sedin era ? What exactly were the teams line for line ? I think the Sundin team was the best top 6. Its hard to find game day lines through the years. But the 2011 team had the depth with Lappier Higgins and Torres.  What was our 3rd and 4th line on the Sundin team ?

In Febuary 2009, this was the Sundin line:

Mats Sundin - Ryan Kesler - Pavol Demitra (RIP)

It wasn't.

1) Sedins and a few other of our core players had not yet hit their peak

2) That Sundin team did not have Ehrhoff, who was a major catalyst during that time

However, many players from that team credit Sundin and his knowledge/experience for helping them get to the next level.

Fair point. But we had Ohlund, Salo, Bieksa and Mitchell

2008-09 Canucks had some passengers.
Guys like Pyatt and Bernier kind of brought what Chiasson does now and Kyle Wellwood was kind of a PP specialist, but the 4th line at the time (Hordichuk - Johnson - Rypien) brought little more besides grit and shot blocking (whereas Lapierre, Higgins and Torres became 4th line depth because the 3rd line guys e.g. Malhotra, Hansen were better).  Also, guys like the Twins and Mason Raymond weren't at their peaks yet, hence why mentors like Sundin and Demitra were signed.

Good points. But was Raymond on the 2nd line in 2011 ? What was the 2nd line  with Kesler in the middle ?

From my memory,

2011 2nd line was Raymond (40+ point pace over a full season), Kesler (73 in 82 in the season) and Samuelsson (50 points).
2009 was the RPM (Ryan - Pavol - Mats) Line.

Sundin is a Leaf.  Can you say LOSER?  Craperolla guy from a smelly franchise of losers from loserville.

Idk what you're on about Alf, Sundin was clearly a Canuck legend

Leaf fans hate hearing this

The 94 team was better than the 2011 team they were better balanced. Had size speed and more depth.
the 2011 team benefited from playing in a very weak division regular season. With a couple breaks both could have won the cup but the 94 team got ripped off with the league moving the game a day back to give the teams a “rest” which really benefited the rangers.
the 2011 team got burned by the suspension of their only healthy defence man for the late hit. Still not sure that was worth 4 finals games but I am a homer.
