Agree. The roster he put together is not bad, but not good enough as this was his version of a “going for it” team. He brought some great pieces in, but I wouldn’t have trusted him to take us to the next level.

Going for the playoffs...  not going for the Stanley Cup.

Benning was always going to be the guy to rebuild our team, and I always doubted that he would be the one trying to take us over the top.  Let's see what JR and his henchmen can do now, looking forward to it.

I wonder what we’d feel about Benning right now if we had kept him?

Dont get me wrong, I think this was the right move...but it would be easy to argue that Benning has assembled a good team that just needed a coach that could string together six straight.

What would the culture of the organization be like if Benning were still in charge?

It wasn't just about the coach. Had the organization kept Benning and just let him fire Green + hire Bruce, we wouldn't have seen the team we saw for the past 6 games.

The players felt they needed changes from top down. They know and hear what's been going on in the office upstairs. They have seen enough of Benning Bros' lack of planning, communication and accountability. Obviously Green had lost the room a while ago too, but simply replacing the head coach wouldn't have given the team the fresh start they were craving for.

And to be perfectly honest, the current roster isn't really that good. Benning went all in on making them look like a good team on paper, but they're still lacking in many areas on the ice. Right now the team is just playing better than sum of its parts with the newly found passion & excitement.

I find Benning to be the kind of GM that builds a core, but cannot bring that core to contender status. So that's what JR and whoever he places as GM, hopefully will be able to do what Benning could not.

I've figured it out with Dickie...  he's a great checker and his hands have been biologically engineered to specialize in lifting sticks and giving crosschecks.

I'm glad that he got his 2nd, but there's no way he's ever hitting 12 goals in a year.

So yeah, I was listening to the radio and they are still downplaying Green's incompetence. Basically they said the Canucks didn't dominate this game, therefore Boudreau is not the reason for why this team is better.

Yeah, that kind of mental gymnastics is something.

Boudreau is smart.

He knows Pettersson has to be a center to be effective, and he knows doing what Green often did, that being putting someone else in to take Pettersson's faceoffs is only a bandaid solution.

Boudreau knows Pettersson is a smart guy... he knows he will learn... and he is willing to be patient.  Because he knows if he can get him winning close to 50% of his draws that will be a big help to overall line balance and avoid the disruption of substituting Miller or Horvat... they are then free to focus on their own lines.

I’m starting to believe that having Horvat, Miller and Pettersson as C’s/taking faceoffs is a big contribution to their overall success.

It seems every different night that a different line shines cause the opposition can’t really shift any focus on any of the 3 lines we deploy. Can’t wait till Sutter comes back.

Who said that JimB didn’t give TG a good roster to compete in this league?

There are people who will never change their opinions on someone or something. I don't know if it's to protect their fragile egos from being wrong or something, but Green clearly sucks at utilizing what he had.

The coaching staff he surrounded himself were also clearly inferior to what is present. Despite having Shaw in his backpocket, Green made this team look awful. Now that Green and Baumgartner are gone, our supposed weak D core is coming up strong with wins.

Green's not an NHL calibre coach. If he is going to be one in the future, he has a lot of reflecting to do.

I do think he is a good coach and will end up with a new team a lot of speculation going around that he may end up with a new team soon.

Joking aside, I hope he can be an assistant of an experienced coach first and then slowly work it back to become a coach again.

It was very puzzling to bring in Shaw, a defenseman specialist, and let Baumer still be in charge of the d-men.

I don't know what kind of standard you're using to come up with that conclusion.

Green has had FIVE seasons and he's not really shown much of improvement, even in this most recent sample. We still see him clinging onto his old ways, which include scrambling lines, dumping and chasing, and too many men bench penalties (granted, he cleaned this up this year). For a coach that had all the talent this year, and seeing how BB has unlocked this roster's true identity, Green is clearly NOT a good coach.

Anyone who still says he's a good coach is just lying to themselves. And no, Green's not getting an NHL job anytime soon. I see him spending some time in the AHL to re-learn the game. He's really not that good. Jesus.

Green is still a good coach however the message was lost, whether it was just him and the team, or the team lost faith in JB. Change was necessary and the team has been better for it.

Many good hockey people have stated he is a good coach and will find another job sooner than later, if anything JB may have taken the biggest hit to his stock for another job for how long it took him to even attempt to right the ship. Also his lack of being able to find and fill the bottom 3 dmen and top 6. He started a solid foundation but ultimately failed to compliment and fill the roster.

Av when fired got jobs right away rangers flyers. Coach Green  still sitting on the sidelines fiddling his fingers. If Benning gets another GM Job then green might get another job under benning

Green can't coach pee wee hockey!  Johnathan Dahlen is a recent specimen! Putting up points.  Green says he is to tiny to play in the NHL!

I agree Dahlen was let go too easily...  but there is a question there.

Dahlen is really a top 6 player... and the Canucks don't even have room in the top 9.  He is not good defensively so wouldn't work on the 4th line.

But he should have been developed better by Green... and traded for a defensive prospect.

Benning and Green did not make use of a number of players who should have been turned into picks or defensemen.

It’s been less than 3 weeks. AV was also coming off a recent 7 game cup run so obviously he’d have been in higher demand.

He’s not a great coach yet nor may he ever but, he’s not this terrible coach cdc and HF make him out to be either.
