Just want to take a moment to apologize to the fans and sponsors, and anyone who may have been - directly or indirectly - adversely effected by my conduct. Infinite thanks to the executive board for deciding to have me back. Now on to the matter at hand. I have yet to perform a thorough organizational analysis, but after a cursory inspection, I don't expect to be terribly aggressive about anything for the balance of the season. Somehow this team is near the bottom of the league despite some serious talent, and without it's own first so there's no point even considering starting a teardown. Anyone who knows anything about me will know I'm not a fan of tanking or "rebuilding" in the strong sense - the "Pittsburgh model" as it were. Some of my GM heroes are folks like Doug Wilson and David Poile for the way they were able and have been able to consistently maintain competitive rosters for decades without rebuilding. I hope to do something similar with these Blue Jackets. Call it a rebuild or retool on the fly. Again, I don't expect to be in a hurry to make changes. Largely going to use this season to make assessments, but that doesn't mean I'm not open for business. Initial impression is that anyone and everyone is open to discussion except for Kaprizov. Yes, that includes Eichel. Not really looking to move anyone for just futures. Going to be looking for a combination of young roster players and futures in every deal. I love this statement above. Feel the same way. 200% feel this way about keeper leagues where you might destroy a team and not even be around to see the results, leaving a brand new GM to wallow in the mess. Happy to see you in similar thoughts. (to be sure: any perception of my tanking in any season or league on CDC is pure coincidence attributable to ineptitude. lol.) I've split players into three categories: Players I'll be actively shopping: Pavel Buchnevich Andrew Mangiapane Jacob Trouba Mattias Ekholm Sergei Bobrovsky Players I'll be open to listening on: Jack Eichel Sam Reinhart Jesperi Kotkaniemi Anton Lundell Players I'll be planning to hold on to: Kirill Kaprizov Brandon Duhaime Ryan Lindgren In basically every trade I'll be looking for a mix of futures and young roster players with upside. Team affiliation isn't my number one concern right now, but I'll be looking for players on short-to-mid term up-and-coming teams (LA, DET, OTT, BUF, NJ) moreso than current contenders.
