Giroux is almost ppg. Burakovsky is a monster for Seattle right now. Kadri isn't terrible but the whole team is a dud. And finally Bergeron. Al over 27 all signed big old deals worth $5.5 million or more and all at .75 ppg or better. I think the lesson is you can go after the medium fish as they have a lot less risk attached and can still do well. But when you chase after the big fish it’s boom or bust. Moral of the story. Get your big fish through the draft and have them throughout their prime years. Pick up the medium fish through free agency to fill holes in the lineup. Hampus Lindholm at 6.5M is probably the biggest win. Doesn't seem to be any discount for him at all. Of course players want to do the best they can for their family. But he's basically got his cap hit tattooed on his forehead for the rest of his career. All pressure and judgement.
