Miller will be worse if they don't move him, imo

That can be debated, but he was far better last season, so maybe he can bounce back...

There are no guarantees, but I'm sure there will always be room for him in the team. Still, for other reasons, I think he should be moved, as his salary prevent the money to be spent better on D....

My nightmare scenario is Bo leaving on a free in the summer... Now that would leave PA/JR with eggs on their faces... and the club in an even bigger mess.

Miller even with one leg and one arm will always be better than Loui...

When they signed LE they were a team set up to rebuild and his salary didn't hinder them much.  They've now signed Miller with a pretty decent stable of young players who will all be coming off their entry level deals or RFA contracts and will be getting significant raises as they come into their prime years.  Millers deal is going to have a significant impact on how they are able to build around those young core players.  You might not like LE, but that deal was pretty inconsequential in the big picture of the rebuild.

Further to that LE was, at least, a very solid defensive player and could move up and down the lineup where needed.......Miller is proving to be a scoring winger and pp specialist and not much else.  When you combine that with the the high probability that Miller is a dressing issue, that makes the Miller deal far worse for the org than LE's deal.

LE was the worst trade...

While not being ideal, at least OEL is capable of holding down a spot...

We were filled with expiring contracts at the time. We were on the down swing.

This team was supposed to be on the upswing. Young players getting better every year, most bad money contracts were 1 or 2 years from expiring.

And Benning completely de railed that with that trade.

This is 100% the worst trade in the salary cap Era in my opinion. Is Ekman Larsson a better player than Eriksson? 100% but this trade affects the team much worse.

Plus this flew right over my head, LE was a signing not a trade, actually the only "LE trade" is the same trade I'm talking about lol.

Isn't that the truth.  John Shannon was on Donnie and Dhali and they wanted him to talk about Miller.  He shut them down and said our problem isn't Miller, it was our defence.  Which is 100% true.  Not only is it our defence, it is our forwards that don't know how to play defence.

We need more defensive forwards who know how to kill a penalty, and we need a major upgrade on the back end.  These issues are 1000x greater than JT Miller...

That just compounds to my comment about the OEL trade being the worst in Canucks salary cap history.

What type of players were Beagle, Roussel and Eriksson? Who's had the worst pk by far, practically NHL history, since that trade?

Just embarrassing times to be a fan of this team.

Jim Benning with all this hindsight is the worst GM in our history.

Miller isn't the problem on this team.  Even John Shannon had to shut up the mouthpiece on Donnie and Dhali about it.  The problem is we have very few defensive forwards who know how to kill a penalty.  Petey, Mikheyev and Lazar, that's about it.  And our defence is one of the worst in the entire NHL.  A scoring winger who is a PP specialist who can get you 70-80 points a year is actually needed to succeed.  What we don't need are wingers like Boeser and Garland who can't play defence and who can't score goals either.  At least Kuzmenko can score goals regularly.  As for Horvat, he can't play defence either.  He is a luxury at this point.  We can trade for a 3C who knows how to take faceoffs and knows how to kill penalties.  We can find someone else to play the bumper spot on the PP.

He is a major issue with this team, but you go right on low ning the other way.  Let's hope management isn't as soft on him.  More to the point his contract is a major issue

The Avs are a mess, wonder if we can pressure them into a deal for Miller instead of Bo...

Miller for Erik Johnson + 1st

EJ 6M cap dump for the Avs, he's playing around 18 minutes on their bottom pairing. We could use him for a year for funsies, offload Miller and score a 15-20th overall pick, then have money to resign Bo.

If he's getting 70-80 points his contract isn't an issue.  Miller has been a consistent PPG guy the entire time he's been here.  He was our MVP last year while Petey was struggling and people calling him to go play in Abby.  Sure, he hasn't had a great start to ths season, but I am looking at his entire body of work over the last 4 years, not just the last 40 games.

The talk that he is the locker room cancer is just that, we don't know what is going on behind the scenes, it is all speculation at this point.  At the end of the day, my opinion is that Horvat and Miller cannot co-exist.  If Miller was not around I would say heh, let's re-sign Horvat long term, and it probably would have gotten done in the summer at a much lower cost than today.  However, management went in the other direction and re-signed Miller instead.  I know that bothers you and I know you feel it will be a catastrophe if Horvat gets traded, but that is the route management has taken.

Maybe management has made a mistake.  We will find out at some point.  If they have then you can say "I told you so" and me and some others can eat crow...
