Sophomore Jinx
Big D, 6'4", 231, plays with an edge...we like dem type, don't we??? SCOUTING REPORT With great size and a real edge to his game, he can make an impact along the blueline. He moves the puck well and already displays reliability and consistency. Is not going to be a quarterback on the power play, and he may never produce impressive offensive numbers at the National Hockey League level. Long Range Potential: Big, steady defenseman with some upside. Edited March 23, 2023 by Sophomore Jinx
GhostsOf1994
We very much need some size and the heavy type, unfortunately he's 28 and doesnt match the age bracket. 1

It's not like he's ancient though haha...with some grooming, he could be a younger, less chaotic giraffe replacement
Lewlowned
I feel having some older bodies isn't the worst thing either. Especially in big Defensemen. It's not like we need every single player to be within 3 years of Petey for a competitive team.

What do you mean? 28 is right in the age bracket we want. The problem is if you're being waived by Toronto, a team with bad defence and short on toughness, something is probably not right. His age isn't the problem, his lack of ability probably is. Guy has 45 hits and 59 blocks in 67 career games. He has size and doesn't really use it. 12 points in his career, no goals. Very few takeaways and a lot of giveaways. Hard pass. Lacks skill and doesn't do much with his size.
higgyfan
28 yrs old and has only played 67 NHL games. Hasn't played a single pro game this season. Would rather stick with the AHL guys and Bear for now. Even Woo is looking better than this guy. 1

Age only matters in regards to cap and especially term (and the inherent risk associated with them). I'd have been THRILLED if we'd signed Miller to a 4 (or less) year x $8m deal at his age. At 7 years though... Dahlstrom is $750k and expires this year. If management feels he's a good pickup and he fits well here... Even extended at near league minimum and 1-2 years, he represents little risk. That said... "Meh" player coming off injury, doesn't exactly screen "pick me up!" mll
Just like for post-TDL trades, players claimed off waivers after the TDL are not allowed to play the rest of season whether regular season or playoffs. Teams are only allowed to play the guys who were on their reserve list at the TDL. Exception UFA signings who can play the regular season but not the playoffs. 1
