RunningWild
Sarah McLellan @azc_mclellan From Bross: Doan is hoping to hear some type of news from the Jamison group tomorrow. If he doesn't,likley starts negotiating w/ other teams
tas
what is detroit up to? they have glaring weaknesses, free agency is all but dried up and they don't really have much of a track record for acquiring impact players via the trade market in recent years. but you have to know kenny holland has something up his sleeve. Vlas=d
Sarah McLellan @azc_mclellan Also, @aaronward_nhl Wow. Detroit has a ton of capspace, what is Doans asking price if they're out?
NucksBruins
If we don't sign Doan, what about Jason Arnott, perhaps for the 3rd line center?? He's big and experienced. The question is, what does he have left in the tank?

Darth Vader
IMO Detroit is losing its cache as a destination. Their roster is too old to be a serious contender. Besides all that there is the reality of Detroit the city. It has become a very unattractive wasteland of deserted buidloings and rampant crime. LanghorneslimRules
i wouldn't compare doan and nash to dubinsky and anisimov because it's irrelevant. the issue is at center ice, and the canucks are painfully shallow at that position too. edit: go through the rosters of the last 4 or 5 cup winners and count how many natural centers they each had. even ones that didn't have a ton of them had natural wingers that can play center very effectively, like zetterberg, sharp, kane, etc.
Charlie.the.Unicorn
Well your entire argument was at the loss of center ice men. The fact is stepan is better than either and Krieder has potential to be better then all of them. Your fact about bring up wingers playing center is silly and pointless the argument was that new york is worse off. Which of course is insane. Ps Kane sucked huge nuts at center! RunningWild
http://www.theprovin..._medium=twitter Doan visited both the Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers when he was in New York for labour meetings. Reportedly, he has plans to visit Montreal. So, where is Vancouver on his priority list? “He hasn’t visited Vancouver but that’s because he’s so familiar with the city,” Bross said. “He knows all about it, the team, the history, and what it’s like to live there. So does his wife. “It hasn’t been a big priority to visit there.”

tas
I'd rather have an improving Max Lapierre center the 3rd than waste $3M on a declining Arnott.
G-52
then i'm incredibly glad you're not an nhl general manager.

tas
and spending 3 million on arnott would be a good idea?
G-52
for a year or two? sure. the guy's 6'5" 220lbs with a cup ring and had 17 goals last year. he's been a captain in the league. the canucks are terribly shallow at center ice. kesler won't be 100% until december. tas
honestly i'd like 6-8 of the canucks forwards to be natural centers. look at team canada 2010, the 2011 boston bruins, 2012 kings, etc.
