WHEN IS AARON ROME SIGNING

One and a half months ago with Dallas ;)

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

IKR!

He should be getting billion dollar offers from multiple teams in the KHL... I guess he is having trouble deciding who to pick.

Only torches and pitchforks? :P
I'm sure there are many American fans who can easily get their hands on some guns.... ;)

Bettman better put his act together soon...

I'm surprised it took so long for the first CYA contract to be signed. I expect the flood-gates to open now and numerous high profile NHL players sign 'Lockout' contracts in the next month - NHLPA will use this to strengthen their barganing position against the owners.

Don't know why people are blaming this lockout only on Bettman. Yes, Bettman plays a big role in it as he is doing the discussions. But he's not all in charge of it himself. Bettman represents the owners and is elected by the BOG. I'm far from a Bettman fan, but if you're gonna blame the NHL for this mess, blame all the execs instead of just Bettman because they all work together.

Now there's some alliteration.....Malkin to Metallurg Magnitogorsk, maybe?

BTW: Bettman deserves some of the blame for the impending lockout, but make no mistake, the real culprits are the owners who want to be able to sign players to 100 million dollar contracts, but still control more than half of the league's profits.
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

This is why we need a rep for fans who pay for Bettman, owners and players alike. Then we could vote and make sure theres never a lockout and more teams come to Canada.Betty is the worst person for his job as no other time has a commish ever locked out players 3 times.Cant blame the owners as much as Betty tells them how to get what they want.Something has to be done and soon about lockouts.

If the players really want to put a deadline on getting a deal done... have a few of the top European players sign contracts in their leagues that take effect on September 16th and have no "out" clause if the NHL manages to salvage their season.

The prospect of not having guys like Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk, for a whole season would certainly light a fire under the league's butts. It would really fracture the owners' unity as individual teams would be looking at losing players and their playoff chances.

BETTMAN I HATE YOU!!

So if players start going to Europe and than the NHL season starts half-way due those players return or stay in Europe. I could see a lot of Russians staying in the KHL.

I think it says a lot more about the major league sport existing in a country that can't support 23 teams at once. The owners are Bettman. If he wasn't doing his job right he'd get fired. Blame the owners and the players union for not finding solid ground. Nba and nfl both got it together in time. It's not like Bettman has the power to just roll over and eff the owners just for the sake of the fans. People blaming Gary are uninformed zombies who are riding the oh so popular Gary Bettman hate train. Yea he's unlikable, but at least he's transparent and intelligent. He's made mistakes and admitted them. He's stubborn at times but that's his job.

SEL isn't accepting locked out NHLers. The Swedes will have to choose other leagues...

Not quite true... SEL won't accept short term contracts with out clauses to go back to the NHL mid-season.

I believe that labour law would suggest that once the owners formally lock out the players, any NHLer can sign there if they commit to the whole season.

Mostly fringe players will commit though...IMO

HI gets another one

Apparently you missed not only the tweets from @theScore, @MolinariPG and @DennisTFP that all had the information between 2 and 4 hours before him, but also the direct comments on @HI's tweet that called him a dope and that it was already reported.

Seriously, stop saying he got stuff right, unless you also want to say I get stuff right when I retweet Dreger or someone similar.

--------------------------------------------

Anyways, likely that some NHL'ers would end up in Russia, and Malkin is superstar power they'd love to have to draw crowds. I'm not surprised they'd want to let NHL'ers come over in case it even helps them get more players in future.
