I'll miss them for sure if they ever leave, or retire.

Sometimes I feel that we as Canucks fans are so desensitized to their plays that unless they score they're just meh. I remember when they first came on the scene and dazzled us all. I hope this half-season or full season off will help us fans realize just how special the Sedins are.

I have no problem with this, they wouldn't want to play anywhere else other than Vancouver anyways.

I seem to remember a lot of similar comments about one Markus Naslund who, you may remember, has had his jersey retired by the Canucks. Anything can happen in hockey.

Without them, the Canucks are just the Flames with a better defense.

And a better goaltender.

They'll probably sign a 3 year deal minimum if they have a big year next season.

WTH?

I just love posts without an iota of logic behind them. The OP has a quote from a Sedin saying that they will probably sign one year deals. Your comeback is this?!!!

Either you don't bother reading and just randomly post things based on the title of the threads, or you need to go to some ESL classes to learn comprehension.

Gretzky?

Horrible comparison. Gretzky was traded because the Edmonton owner ran out of money. If he didn't Gretzky would have remained an oiler for way longer.

The Sedins will not play for any other NHL team. I think that is a guarantee. They're just going to pull a Lidstrom and decide if they want to keep going year-to-year. It probably does the Canucks a favor by giving them a lot more flexibility, rather than handing them a Luongo contract.

Either way, I still think the Sedins will sign another deal with term after their current one expires - I'd say three-ish years - and at that point take it year-to-year.

What is the deal with Mike Gillis, it always seems like he's sweating...

Sounds like they have already thrown in the towel, mentally speaking. Trade em for picks I say.

“We’re already taking it year by year right now,” Daniel said this week, as per The Province. “We have a year and a half on this current contract and then mentally I think it will be easier if we go year by year after that.

“Mentally, when you get to this age, to be able to perform, you have to be there. I really believe if you sign a long term deal it will be tougher to perform on a nightly basis.”

They are only 32! Weak

Believe me, I would love to see 22 n 33 prove me wrong, in fact, if they bring us a cup, I'll eat a puck. Quote me on it.

But if their own mindset is telling us that they think they are already losing whatever small edge they had to begin with, then the best thing to do would be to liquidate and move towards building a real contender.

Can't you get arrested for telling someone to kill themselves?

It will be a very sad day when the Sedins retire.

I believe that day was June 10, 2011.

That's the last time I remember them actually playing.

somebody had to

We are never going to have a championship team here until we start rejecting second rate stars as superstars.

You really can't see the type of play that the Sedins display day in and day out. Their passes and the way they control the play is and will be remembered as one of a kind. Two scoring champs and two mvps and two gold medals between them and you think they're not true superstars because they haven't won the cup (yet)? Maybe they won't but I'm still shocked at the way some Canucks fans take for granted what they have in Sedins.

I have really enjoyed watching the twins work their magic for the past few years and appreciate everything they have done for the organization and the team and the fans. They are special, there is no doubt. Maybe I am being too hard on them for their soft style of play when the blame should perhaps be placed on management for not supplying them with the supporting cast to enable ultimate success.

Maybe.

I can't remember what they look like or even how they played together. I can still remember that our uniforms are blue and that there is some black fish-like creature on them.

I just hope none of them gets seriously injured..they can both skate out there very last NHL game together...years down the road.

I'm sure they won't sign anywhere else but Vancouver anyway. If they did, or the season they do retire we will see how horrible this Canucks offence really is. The Sedins make everyone on the team better with their passing and opening up of space, everyone from Kesler on the PP to whoever their winger is to especially the defencemen like Edler, Hamhuis and Bieksa who have been racking up points thanks to the twins.

The season following the Sedins' departure will be a rough one. By that time Kesler will be reduced to a 50-60 point player and will be expected to be our 1st line center while someone like Schroeder or Gaunce will be forced into the 2nd line center role. This is where Hodgson would have transitioned perfectly into our #1 center, because by the time the Sedins retire, he would be hitting his stride at around a point-a-game production.

Smart move, by the time their next contract starts they will be 34. Wouldn't mind a 2-3 years deal for their next contract, but nothing long term. As they said, having a 1 year deal will keep them on the edge mentally. If we're lucky they may end up like Teemu.

So true, I have really enjoyed watching them play. They have also become my favorite canucks.
