Yet Buffalo is winning. We're not.

They've got a good hockey team - Miller, Myers, Vanek, Pominville, Ennis, Regehr, Stafford - they'll win some games.

You just denied his entire post and u say he is in denial.

His entire post was crazy. Kassian - who didn't even have a single SOG - somehow was more "noticeable" than Cody Hodgson was, as Buffalo's top-line C and involved everywhere? Huh?!?

They also have a pretty effective PP QB, who makes great passes and is very good at joining the rush.

What's his name, again?

Not sure about that. Cody had 7 SOG, which was second only to Vanek's absurd total of 9. He won 11/20 faceoffs. 2:17 PP time, 2:07 PK time. Does the word "versatility" mean anything to you?

Being so prominent on the PK dispels your "defensively irresponsible" theory, so you might want to start working on something else to feel better about the trade.

:bigblush:

Oops. By 'promnent' on the pk do you mean floating/spectating on the Giroux pp goal (which he was)?
3 pk shifts - 1 goal. Impressive 67% pk with him on the ice King.
People aren't making up the reality that he's not a very good defensive player - it's just obvious.

Have a watch - tell me this is the kind of effort you want out of your penalty killers.

King - I have to break out of the/your sidetrack here.
This is the Luongo trade thread.
I realize you are obsessed with Hodgson, but isn't there a General Hockey discussion forum where you've already started admirer threads that you could take this to?

Bjugstad is playing on the Score right now for anyone who's interested.

You can tell the guy's going to be a beast.

I think we should call him up from our farm team...I mean make a trade for him with Florida.

That looks about what a PKer should be doing. Giroux was practically right against the boards on that goal, which is ideal from the D's perspective. Miller would probably want that one back, but that Claude Giroux guy is also a pretty good player.

What do you suggest he should've been doing? Running around after the puck?

If you watched the Panthers game last night like I did, you would know that Theodore is playing better than both Luo and Schneider. No need for Florida to get a goalie when Theodore is playing amazing.

One game does not a season make. Why can't some people get that? Seriously.

A sample of one is impossible to deduce ANYTHING from. There are no trends, just a starting point.

Give everyone at least 5 games before you start to draw conclusions.

Unlike fans, GMs don't make decisions based on one game though.

Well, glad to see all the idiocy spilling out into the regular threads didn't mean this thread would suddenly become normal. Still the same old, same old in here, with a few posters bothering to try and talk to a few other posters that they've never once made any headway with.

So Cody getting his stats inflated cause Vanek had a spectacular game suddenly makes him a superstar player, lol from the highlights looked like he made alot more mistakes.

His entire post was crazy. Kassian - who didn't even have a single SOG - somehow was more "noticeable" than Cody Hodgson was, as Buffalo's top-line C and involved everywhere? Huh?!?

Kassian >>>> Hodgson

Kassian had a much better game today than Coho did, i went tothe game and watch Kassian closely, he was great and his 1st star nomination just proves that.

Was Cody 1st star in his game? Im happy with the trade thank you.

Ya a defensively responsable player should turnthe puck over to Coburn at his blue line, then head to the bench rather than backcheck and prevent the odd man situation which costs Buffalo a goal against.

But what a star defensively, should win the Selke this year.

"Kassian = Lucic 2.0. LOL Kassian's such a wimp. Who can't split Ben Eager's face wide open?! What an ill-timed fight!"

Or something along the like.

Kassian.... Taylor Pyatt 3.0

Lies. He's more of a Steve Bernier. Hopefully his talent level goes up so he can become like a Taylor Pyatt.

Stats of goalies on teams that were rumoured to be interested in Luongo watch after 2 nights:

Bryz: 0-2-0, 90.9 SVP, 3.05 GAA
Theodore: 1-0-0, 97.6 SVP, 1.00 GAA
Dubnyk: 1-0-0, 93.1 SVP, 1.85 GAA
Scrivens: 1-0-0, 95.5 SVP, 1.00 GAA

Only 1 game for most those guys, but they all played pretty well except Bryz who was mediocre at best so far.

Zack Kassian was virtually invisible again tonight as the game's second star.

Roberto looked solid, his value plummetting in a 2 goal .938 sv % performance. A little rusty positioning on the Eberle goal, a little more underarm deodorant on the Hemsky goal, otherwise a stellar performance.

1st star in the building* ;)

But yes he was terrible and Cody already is a mile ahead of everyone else in the race for the Hart and Selke trophies.

Why did MG do it?!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I stand corrected - I read that Eberle was the first star. Good for Zack.

Gallagher had to eat some crow tonight eh, and realize Kassian's actual potential - although he's talking as if Kassian all of a sudden learned to skate - young guy skated very well last year, it's just that Gallagher was wearing his bathroom blinders.

Didn't hear Gman's comments.

Kassian was flying out there though, he's huge and he skates like he's 6'0 190

another lame performance last night. Lu looked like amateur hour out there. Maybe he looked a little to amateurish. I think he could be tryin' to hurry up this trade process. What better way to throw a game then in the shoot out!!!.....

/sarcasm?

Gagner and Hemsky are two of the best shootout guys in the western conference. He was about to face Eberle after that. It's not his fault Burrows forgot to skate fast when he did his forehand backhand roof move. Lu made some excellent saves last night. Two or three were awesome glove saves. Give it a couple more weeks, and someone is going to come knocking on Gillis' door with a pretty decent offer when their goalie starts schitting the bed. Lu looks great.

Luo was pretty solid last night. Although leaning a little too far over on the Eberle goal, it was still a goal Eberle scores on pretty much any other goaltender.

As for the Hemsky goal, yes that was one he should have had. Otherwise, very solid outing, with a predictable finish in the shootout.

The team that everyone should be keeping their eye on for a potential Luongo trade leading up to the deadline is the Flyers. If Bryz continues his poor play over the next 3-4 weeks, look for them to be headlining the Luongo trade rumours.

I can be an insider too!

Is Schroeder a shootout specialist? That's one thing that Coho was good at. I miss him for that.

How long before teams have a shootout coach, I wonder?

Source: Tony Gallagher on team 1040 last hour

Tony, BMac and Taylor were discussing the Luongo situation. Essentailly they said.

-this all took place at the draft.
-deal was very close to being done between Vancouver and Toronto-perhaps even done- they were not sure.
-the trade was presented to Luongo and he asked if Florida was still interested.
-MG said FLA was still interested but not close
-Lou said no to the proposed TO deal and said he wanted to wait for florida.

See... This really makes me wonder if MG is keeping Toronto on the line to make it appear that there are more buyers than there really is. It seems like something MG would do.
