      Forum-specific Rules   07/11/2017

These are board specific rules for the Trades and Rumors forum designed to provide organization and a better experience for everyone. Please review these rules before posting new threads.
THREAD ETIQUETTE   1. Please search for an existing thread before posting. This forum can be very fast moving, so it's understandable if redundant threads are inadvertently posted. In such a case, please use the report feature to request removal of redundant threads.    2. Provide a clearly identifiable topic title so that users can readily understand the content. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate.   3. All trades, signings, rumors and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread. Moderators may remove low-quality threads in favour of high-quality threads.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news items that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriate label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].   4. When the status of a thread changes a new thread can be created. The new thread should reflect the change and help focus the discussion on current events. e.g. Someone may create a new thread when a rumor becomes a trades. The old thread will be locked by the moderating team.    5. Do not misrepresent the contents of your thread or post false trades or rumors. Trolling will result in a permanent suspension.

SOURCES   The following source types are considered INVALID. Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Additionally, certain sources may be be blacklisted due to poor credentials, clear traffic-mongering etc. Blacklisted sources will be posted here.
Thank you for your co-operation and please PM the Administrator or Moderators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

Statistically speaking, we have to have at least one playoff run where the opposition goalies choke more then our own. And yes our forwards need to score, blah blah blah.

I disagree. Backstrom could be exactly the type of guy the Canucks need. He wouldn't be the only piece as we do need some more jam too, I don't disagree with that.

Backstrom could compliment the Canucks a lot, assuming he is healthy, and could be the vital linchpin on the 2nd PP unit to make it explosive. He has the ability to make players around him better and more productive.

It's true he has a big cap hit but it the trade was something like the following it could make a big improvement to the team. (It's not a serious proposal)

To Was: Luongo, Ballard, Booth, 1st = $13.8 mil

To Van: Carlson, Backstrom, Brouwer = $13.4 mil

Sedin-Sedin-Burr

Higgins-Backstrom-Brouwer

Raymond-Kesler-Schroeder

Kassian-Lappy-Hansen

Hamhius-Bieksa

Edler-Carlson

Garrison-Tanev

Schneider

Wolski-Ribiero-OV

Booth-Laich-Ward

Chimera-Johansson-Fehr

Crabb/Beagle/Hendricks/Perrault

Alzner-Green

Ballard-Poti

Schultz/Erskine-Hamrlik

Luongo

Holtby

Schneider + booth/Ray + hamhuis

For

Neuvy + poti/hamrlik(both Ufa) + backstrom.

I would prefer to keep raymond

Backstrom can center ... move kes to wing... he would do wonders with bwckstrom feeding him

After all this dicking around with Schneider, he's obviously not stoked on the way its been handled. What if we trade Luongo, and then Schneider chooses to entertain free agency and some other team makes a ridiculous offer he cant refuse.

Then we'd be looking really silly for trading Luongo and then losing Schneider. More than silly, we'd be effed completely.

We can let it close completely or we can add young talent and sustain it longer.

Plus adding a star now (which isn't as realistic or likely as people would like to think it is) would then destroy us next year. Like we would become Chicago after they won the cup, and any chance at a cup is them completely gone, atleast this way with young players, we keep our depth and our star power. And those players can help out now too.

Schneider to NYI for Streit, Neidereitter, and Nielson at the deadline.

Solves our need for a puck mover to get our powerplay going. A stud prospect for the future. And a third line center play maker that gives us three solid scoring lines.

I find some of these trade proposals comical.

Lets not forget the Capitals traded Varlamovs rights (he was a rfa) for a top 10 1st round pick and a 2nd rounder.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Schneider a much better goalie than Varlamov with a lot more potential and under contract for 3 years?

I think the Flyers will be the most aggresive team to get one of our goalies. They have lots of size in Hartnell, Voracek and Simmonds. I would think one of them could be involved with a young centre and a pick.

would that really be so bad? they won it in 2010, still made the playoffs in 2011 after losing alot of their depth and almost took us out as the 8th seed, made the playoffs again last year but ran into a red hot Mike Smith, and are currently the #1 team in the league this year. I'd take that along with the cup win prior to all of it
