Nuxfanabroad
I bet the Sharks slide next yr..Ottawa has their 1st. Karlsson's a washed up, prima donna. If Duch signs in Ohio, they have that 1st too. & they've got tonnes of prospects now. Could add them to 2nd's, to get more 1st rounders. In a couple yrs, they could have a great young team! 2022 Final: VAN vs OTT!!!(We're the defending Champs! :^)

Nuxfanabroad
Ottawa gets through the Tkachuk-choice, relatively unscathed. They were right to keep the 2018 selection, after all...

Nuxfanabroad
The Sens' turnaround starts with this great lotto result (from their pov)! A poster on HF reviewed the Duchene deal, that had everyone in a fuss... Turris(was a pending UFA looking for big $$$)..Note he was signed by Preds 6x6mill AND already healthy-scratched sometimes! Bowers Hammond(cap dump) 2019 4th overall pick & 2019 3rd rounder ************************************************************************************ Duchene's service(for about 1 yr) Abramov Davidson 2019 20th OA(approx, CBJ's pick) 2020 1st(conditional, if Duch signs in Columbus) ...This is not nearly as bad as it was looking throughout the season. They made the right call taking Tkachuk, last June.

They made the right call taking Tkachuk, last June. But they lost a 4th overall, which could've been a 1st; they lost Stone, who was clearly their best player, aside from Karlsson (who was a fan favourite and had to go due to poor circumstances); and their goaltender Anderson is good, but he's like 40 years old. Their depth is worse than ours and they have an owner who is showing how incompetent he is at running his most expensive business. Melnyk may have billions but he has neglected his infrastructure and ignored his bosses that is his fans. Worst NHL owner today.

Nuxfanabroad
I'd rather pay a young Chabot 8 yrs/64 mill, than a potentially-hobbled Karlsson 8 yrs/92 mill The Maple Fleas could learn a few things(drafting/signing) from their Prov-neighbours...
Nuxfanabroad
Ottawa's in a much better situation(going fwd) compared with TO. Over the next several seasons, the Leafs will lose many Ontario fans, likely to other sports.

Ottawa will never be a contender until they get an owner who wants to win and isn't a worthless bum, just like Toronto won't be a contender until they fire their idiot of a GM. He made EK 8 yrs 10 mill offer but Ek wanted out. Duchene was offered good contract as well.. Sens are lucky they traded them. They have good young prospects and players. Also have 5 picks in first two rounds 2 of which could be top 10. They look good for the future.

I like their prospects, just think their owner is a cheap scumbag who isn't willing to spend what is necessary to ice a legit NHL team. There is a reason Sens fans are spending money on trying to get Melnyk to sell the team to a real owner instead of tickets.

I don't know king hefty.. their arena is so far out of town.. they need a down town arena. Still spending 75 mill this year. That's close to cap max. 7 mill under..Canucks were around there couple years ago. Now stuck with LE and Luongo. It's not easy driving out 40km to game in OTT weather. His team was 1 goal away from making the cup.. lost to Crosby and the pens He's taken losses all these yrs. Still spent descent money. . .

Nuxfanabroad
Now some folks will dbl back their opinions & belatedly give credit to Dorion/Melnyk. Just remember I told yas' last freeken March(takin' heat in doing so)! The Sens have been FUN to watch this yr. In a few yrs they'll be a powerhouse!
