Sens, Sharks Karlsson Deal..Who Won?

Crazy that the Sens are basically guaranteed to walk away with a franchise player beyond the one they select with their own pick, while the Sharks are bogged down with a 30+ Erik Karlsson who will likely only become more injury prone and who eats up $11 million per.

Anyone recall seeing other trades which blew up so badly in the buyer's face?

The jury is still out on just how bad Karlsson in San Jose will look when it's all said and done, but heres a couple more:

-Forsberg for Erat

-Tatar to Vegas

-Brassard for Zibanejad

-Alexei Yashin to NYI

-Matt Duchene's career

-Pederson to us for Neely and a 1st.

Islanders trading Chara...Hodge for Middleton (if you want to go way back)..back to NYI Luongo and whomever that guy was that scored like 91 points one year (Mad Mike - think it was Olli Jokinen) ..

Roy deal.   Selanne to ANA deal.   Hull out of Calgary (although it might have helped them get a cup) and Gilmour out of Calgary... lucky for us or 94 might have never happened.    There is quite a few really and this deal almost certainly won’t end up in any top ten list.   Not when Naslund for Stojanov ... Neely...Dryden etc and other deals were so absolutely lopsided.   And buyers is a little strange way to phrase it - a trade is a trade and OTT got a solid player in return....

As of now, a #5 OA pick added to Ottawa's haul..not too shabby.

Wonder if they'll pick Drysdale with it? Comparisons to EK will quickly begin.

More like the #3 OA pick there. San Jose was in my opinion the biggest loser last night.

Senators, since in 11 months he would have been a UFA anyways.  It was Salvaged by making a trade for a bottom 6 but NHL foward, a bottom pairing but NHL capable dman, a AHL sniper, a 1st rounder from 2017(Josh Norris) a 2nd round pick and a 1st round pick, you can choose that or get nothing. Senators would have also gotten a lot less if they waited until trade deadline or even get nothing in return like what Islanders got for Tavares.  What makes it a bigger win is the pick being a top 3 pick, my gosh.
