  1. Sounds like a bust! Like former first overall Swedes - Rasmus Dahlin and Mats Sundin?
  2. Wow, poor kid. My condolences. A few months before the draft... Hoping this is now just part of the sad origin story of the one of best Russian athletes of all time. Let's draft him?
  3. I had a goalie coach around 2004-05 (pre-Luongo) that was adamant that Manny Legace was the best goaltender we'd ever had in our system to that point.
  4. Hockey may not be extremely welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community, but it's even less welcoming to the poor. Our game is one of the more elitist Sports around tbh.... right up there with skiing and golf.
  5. Not a veteran - but I've been watching a ton of Buffalo Sabres games this year (mostly because they're a young, talented team and fun to watch), and I really think Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen would be a fantastic backup for Demko. I don't think he'll ever be a number one goaltender, but he definitely has upside. I could see Buff targeting a true starter (Swayman?) to go tandem with Devon Levi next year. Perhaps that could make UPL available?
  6. I’m wracking my brain here… are you talking about Luc Bourdon?
  7. Basically the defenseman we've been missing for years... Didn't get to see his big slapshot, but he threw a few sneaky wristers on net, and had some crisp break-out passes. Guy is just strong on his skates, plays with intensity, and has actual defensive awareness. Not a big bruiser, but still has decent size to get it done. Extremely confident with the puck - casual body language while carrying it up the ice, even threw out some head-fakes and seemed eager to dish out no-look passes. Easily our best defender behind Hughes already.
  8. Awe man, gonna miss Cheech. No idea who could possibly replace him. I’d say Batchelor is probably ready, but his voice is way too similar to Shorty’s.
  9. Exactly this. How many of his goals are literal tap-ins? My shooting percentage into an empty net from inside the crease is also pretty high. The guy just knows where to be to score goals. There's not a lot that's unsustainable about the way he's producing.
  10. 91 and 92 look like twins out there, with the same hair flowing out the sides of their helmets. It's a great move pairing these guys up, as nobody is going to be floating with Podz on their line. How could you? Krav really hasn't shown a whole lot yet, but the effort level has been good.
  11. My posts are always free Go as far back as you'd like - there's even some bickering about Hunter Shinkaruk vis a vis Markus Granlund. I may have even defended the OEL trade...
  12. Things have worked out pretty perfectly - in terms of getting Thatcher his confidence back. Now let's split starts with Delia the rest of the way, play the kids, and get our next franchise player at the draft.
  13. Anyone starting to feel like, in the last handful of games, our best players (Petey, Hughes, Demko) have been the best players on either team? Having vague flashbacks of how good Pettersson and Hughes were in the bubble playoffs... and thinking about how much better/more experienced they are today. It's all becoming clear why we can't do a scorched-earth rebuild with these guys on the roster.
  14. I would probably take Reinbacher as high as 6th OA, personally. Just too good of a fit for us.
  15. I don’t think he’s available, but with Devon Levi now eligible to sign in Buffalo - I think UPL would be the absolute perfect backup for Demko.
  16. Yes indeed. As a goalie guy, I've liked this kid from day 1 - but never imagined he'd be able to perform this way at the NHL level this early. Really nice to see. Was especially impressed with his performance in the shootout. Kid moves really well in the crease, obviously extremely flexible - that little poke check was a smart, confident play too. His flexibility reminds me a bit of Miika Kiprusoff. You can definitely see the raw tools that Ian Clark and co. were so excited about. Not going to come out and say he's an A prospect or anything, but it's nice to see a skilled young goalie developing nicely.
  17. Dude was such a wiener in that Allvin press conference. Why would an NHL GM have to justify making a trade for a top-4 RHD to some punk reporter, especially when that has been the glaring team need for literal years. But he kept harping on it, trying to get the man to admit he had "sinned".
  18. Kid had a disastrous D+1 season, but it's kinda nice having an underdog-type prospect in the cupboard. Especially one with his skill set... He's all but written-off after one year of development. Perhaps this is just part of his origin story
  19. Can't really get a full read on his overall hockey sense or his drive, but the kid smooth as silk. Pretty incredible puck skills. This could still be a sneaky good pick up for us. Obviously we're all skeptical that this could be another Goldobin - but a 6'3 Russian with Krav's hands is a player worth taking a chance on.
