  1. Man, I wish we knew who was the beat writer for the Burnaby Bulletin Blog. I mean, if only there was some way to find out who. Maybe we'd know more about this if we just had a hint. It's a mystery for sure
  2. Anders Nilsson? Pfft. Hodgson Schroeder Juolevi Jensen Honourable mention Cole Cassels who "shut down McJesus" in the playoffs Never ever EVER base anyone off of a tournament. Always gives me second hand fear when people start hyping up players out of nowhere after the olympics, world championships or as we've seen before, the world juniors
  3. I wanna see him come in and play healthy, but at the same time you can not plan on or expect for injured players to come back and perform. It's why I am so wait and see about Hronek at this point.
  4. Tell us you are the person behind the articles with a hate on for this woman without saying it. At this point in time my dude, it's bloody obvious
  5. Didn't this management group trade for Gudbranson though?
  6. Wish I could find out where I said it, but had been pointing out since about mid season that Florida would be the team to catch fire at any time as they were playing well below their abilities and while MTL had an outside shot at two top 10 picks it was more likely Florida caught fire and hit the playoffs and did some damage. Bet a buddy of mine who is a Bruins fan that the cats would beat the bruins in 6 or 7 games and if they did they'd be unbeatable. But I did not expect to see them doing this. Vegas/Florida final meaning that a team that has never won will win and that sucks....kind of having to decide who I dislike less. The Cats or the Vegas Bettmans. I'd love to see Hutton lift a cup but that's really it. The satisfaction of seeing Tkachuk lift one and making the Flames faithful cry is also kinda satisfying and added that it means the Staal bros would lift one up with Reinhart is appealing. But damn....
  7. He's only rolling the world championship right now, .5 ppg pesky all around winger on an average contract. But you know, a 1st to get some sucker team to pick him up should be enough to get him out the door
  8. Having looked over the last 7 or 8 draft day threads. This is kind of repeated quite frequently. Deep draft, top 5 are can't miss. Top 10 would be top 5 most years. Kinda wondering if they intentionally make these claims just to drum up attention
  9. I never suggested they would. I just don't understand why people think they are a team that is rebuilding. I am looking at them the same way I did tampa or Colorado. Got some amazingly high picks, underachieved had one or two incredibly bad years afterwards and then look at them now. Colorado did poorly from 2008 ish through 2014. Had a bump year or two then floundered got makar and the byram pick thanks to Ottawa and there ya go. Tampa did the same with some high picks, floundered got hedman and vasilevski and there ya go. I see CBJ as being no different. they have an INSANE amount of talent on that roster to not take the next step while adding what would arguably be a 1st OA pick between Fantilli or Carlsson in most years.
  10. My first thought is we need to poach the amateur scouting departments of Ottawa and Tampa as well as the pro scouting department of Carolina and Vegas and then we'll be fine
  11. How is Columbus rebuilding though? A forward core of Roslovic, Laine, Gaudreau, Jenner, Johnson, Bemstrom, Sillinger and Marchenko is not rebuilding. When you add in a blue line of Werenski (injured all year) Bean (injured most of the year) Peeke and Boqvist with prospects on the blueline including Mateychuk, Jiricek and Cuelemans. Almost ALL of them, barring two under the age of 26 who will be adding an additional 3rd overall which could be Carlsson or Fantilli they're not exactly rebuilding, they just had a horrible spate of injuries and zero chemistry coupled with questionably bad coaching and goaltending with injuries to Elvis Merzilikins and Gillies. This is without mentioning the fact they're one of the top 6 youngest teams in the entire league. They're not rebuilding my dude. They're ready to take the next step and should have this year except nothing worked out for them. By comparison, Vancouver is closer to rebuilding than Columbus. Anaheim or Chicago is rebuilding. Ottawa is almost done a rebuild. Montreal is rebuilding. Columbus with all that youth and depth only has one issue and that is cap space.
  12. Watch Toronto hire him and make the gd finals the following year Canuck luck baby
  13. Really? We've needed a minimum of 2 true RHCs since 2013. Two true RHDs since 2006. Instead we drafted Schroeder, Grabner, and about a half dozen redundant wingers BPA is not always what is best when you ignore points of critical need for a decade or more
  14. Isn't hindsight fun. Look at the team we could have built with our missed picks from 86 through 93
  15. When you look at how Detroit drafted from 1986 through 1994 and the fact they kept their players it's kind of insane how stacked they were based off of their in house. In the same time, the only hits we really cast off were Peca and Walker.
  16. I am old enough to remember sitting with other people as teenagers talking about 88/89 and 90 and what should have could have been. People moaning about Tkachuk still are not old enough to remember how bad the ball was dropped in the past numerous times. The canucks had been scouting Bure as early as 1989 and were apparently going to take him no matter what including creating the story that he was not going to come to the NA markets drafting russians or players from the federation and Europe made a TON of sense but never happened. They could have had Jagr but instead opted for the safer nedved. didn't want fedorov or Lidstrom, Tkachuk and Brodeur (that one stung because we needed a goalie badly and everyone kept mentioning him) so ya, it was literally 5 or 6 straight years of blown opportunities and missed draft picks from about 1986 through 1993. When you look at all the misses (no disrespect to Linden) over that stretch it's insane how good of a team we could have had through the 90s. Easily rivalling the Wings as the best over a decade But people wanna moan about Tkachuk and Juolevi
  17. I have some great news everyone! Found some widow Jane, Blantons and Blantons gold at Platina Liquor in Airdrie!! Here's everything we know about The Macallan 81-Year-Old Single Malt.
  19. Love seeing that. Two kids playing together already. now to get Leo in the fold somehow
  20. Take it to the proposal threads. No point clearing cap space JUST to spend to the hilt. Rutherford will do something, it's in his blood. But no thank you for me because his history isn't exactly full of wins https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/staff/jim-rutherford
  21. Well, people might be worried that this could happen but don't worry. Jimmy Rutherford doesn't have a history of high volume trades to move assets that usually end up going badly for him. https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/staff/jim-rutherford
  22. Why are we even talking about this? We SHOULD be talking about the real crime of the organization. Nedved over Jagr. EVERYONE knew. I remember. EVERYONE knew that jagr was money in the bank. Jagr was the pick. But there was "fears" and he wasn't chosen because Nedved was safer But people still wanna sit here and moan that Tkachuk was the better pick over Juolevi and somehow some way Franky Aqua was not being informed at the moment of the pick. We know better. Let's move on shall we, lest I bring up the Neely fiasco, Linden over Roenick/Selanne/Brind'amour, or...dare I mention it; drafting Herter and his whole 1 point over Lidstrom and Federov in 89. What could have been. Aint hindsight great? Isn't it? guys? Hey guys?
  23. I love that people think 11 is a cemented thing. In reality, here is Jimmy Rutherford's trade history. he loves him some high volume trades https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/staff/jim-rutherford
  24. Lol I'm not paying $40k for whiskey $40 whiskey gets me where I need to go just fine
