  1. NHL coaches tend to have a shelf life, even the good ones. If the players stop buying into the system, you're going to get hockey like we had last night, uninterested, low energy, error after error hockey. It doesn't mean that the coach won't get hired somewhere else and have success, but it's just not working for the current group of players. That's where we appear to be with Green right now. Let the team prove me wrong. I like Green as a coach, always have, but we're out of our rebuild stage where the primary focus was player development. Playoffs is the expectation, and his win/loss record is the measuring stick. No owner/manager is going to sit around and let this continue if he can't figure out how to get his guys to play for him.
  2. It looks like our guys have tuned green out, at least the ones that have played for him for a while now. The new guys like garland and OEL are playing good hockey, and a guy like Bailey trying to make the team looks good too. Everyone else not named Horvat or Demko does not look good out there. TBenning has given green the best roster any coach here has had in almost a decade, if he can't get it to work and at least play over .500 hockey, he's going to be looking for a new job.
  3. He's always put up points. I think what drives people nuts (and I would bet his coaches too) is his somewhat indifference to the game. If he makes a mistake, he'll often just stand there with this defeated look on his face and then slowly skate back to the bench. He's not the guy that makes a mistake and then hussles back to try and recover from it. We're a better team with him on the ice, but he is a frustrating player to watch sometimes.
  4. That lady in the Flames jersey is a die hard. Look at her assessing her crappy team in every one of those photos!
  5. What a response. Those crapping all over Pettersson right now will be eating their words when he starts playing like everyone else knows he can. He does not seem like the sign a big contract then mail it in kind of player.
  6. This is the season for Green to prove he's capable of coaching a competitive NHL team. It's one thing to beat expectations when no one expects your team to go anywhere, but with the team Benning has assembled this year, expectations are much higher.
  7. Canucks dominated the 1st. Played like absolute trash in the 2nd (aside from Demko) time to come back
  8. This is everything these days. The insane fringes of society are the loud ones, and the ones that the media just can't resist giving airtime to. Meanwhile the majority of society are quietly going about their lives and shaking their heads at these morons.
  9. Missed the last game, must have been a stinker based on the abundance of "sky is falling" threads being started
  10. I hope they are forced to play him. God that team is built poorly
  11. weak suspension, that was a dirty hit on a defenseless player. I don't even know why I open these threads. The DOPS is a complete joke.
  12. Yikes, first Virtanen and now Olli. Not a good look on Jim's drafting record. At least with Virtanen you can blame it on being a pretty weak draft (there were bad players selected around him too), but with Olli, he really missed on that one. So many good players taken right after. Waiting for the lackluster return to be announced and CDC to subsequently crash for the remainder of the Thanksgiving long weekend.
  13. Nice job vancouver sun. Give these idiots the publicity they're after by quoting their songs. Maybe next time you can post a link to the spotify so I can have a listen on the way to work.
  14. Smith drives me nuts with his diving. I'm actually much more interested in hearing how kassian is doing after that concussion, but no mention of him.
  15. are you thinking of the Golden State Killer? California sure has it's share of psychopaths.
  16. Do you find trolling a pandemic funny? Or are you just one of those people looking to sow distrust in our society? Either one, get lost.
  17. and youtube, and reddit. seems the internet is full of experts these days!
  18. WOOOOOW. 1 game for a cross check straight to the face? off to a great start DOPS.
  19. If you look at his history, Jim Benning has actually done a good job resigning players to team friendly, fair contracts. Brock and Bo contracts for example. It's more or less just the UFAs he has problems overpaying with. At least so far...
  20. If for some insane reason we can only get one of these two signed, it better be Petey. Obviously still hoping for both to get signed on non-team-crippling deals. C'mon guys, times up, stop playing hardball. Bring back the bridge deal! No more of this RFA madness that Toronto has helped create.
