  1. Lafreniere is a 40 point 15-20 goal scorer while playing with guys like Goodrow, Chytil, Kravtsov, Motte, Blais, and other plethora of depth guys. He got 0 PP time, and was behind Kreider and Panarin on the left side. Doesn’t turn 22 until October, guy should get plenty of opportunities in the top 6 beside Pettersson or Miller. He’s a good get.
  2. Answer is simple. Keep Silovs. He just turned 22, let him be a backup behind Demko for the next 3-5 years. By then, Demko will be 32-33. We will see how Demko’s hip holds up in the upcoming years. There’s a good chance if Demko plays well up until he’s a UFA, he’ll price himself out and sign somewhere else for more money, like Markstrom. That said, Demko better be ready next year. Silovs wont hesitate to quickly take that starting role from him.
  3. Glass, Fabbro, 24th overall, L’Hereux, Evangelista, then sure. Not 11th for Glass straight up.
  4. Quickly solidifying himself as the best goaltending prospect in the world.
  5. Wow. That is incredible. Silovs is becoming their nations hero. What a historic day for Latvia. Kudos to all of them.
  6. Looked clean to me. Slavin’s head was tucked in unfortunately. His head didn’t snap back either. What an absolute monster hit.
  7. More like a twin bed lol. Seguin comes across as the guy who prefers being on top. Benn’s definitely a bottom type of guy.
  8. Change it to Garland then. We need to off load cap somehow dude. If we had a top 10 pick I would agree with you. However, it’s the 11th pick. Perhaps we shouldn’t have gone streaking late end to the season like we always do and fall out of the top 10. Smith, Michkov, Dvorsky, Benson, Reinbacher, Leonard, Moore, and one of Barlow, Wood, and ASP will be gone. There isn’t a significant difference between Barlow, Wood, and ASP and Danielson, Ritchie, Heidt, Honzek, Simashev, Willander, Strbak, Stenberg, etc. The latter names all fit organizational needs as well and we don’t have to reach in order for us to get them. There’s also a good chance one of them is available with the 35th. Grabbing two first round calibre prospects is better than one of Barlow, ASP, or Wood. Again, I’m totally fine with those 3, but the main thing here is that we also get to dump cap.
  9. So basically about even. Vasilevsky, Kreider and Getzlaf > Kopitar, Forsberg, Fiala
  10. Come to think of it, Chicago should be our #1 trading partner. They’ve got the cap, they need legitimate NHLers in their line up (can’t have Dickinson as your first line center ffs), and they have the draft capital. 11th overall, Boeser full contract for the 19th, 35th, and Jason Dickinson. We dump cap, we get a cheap 3C compared to a UFA 3C, we get an extra pick back, and we are now able to draft players who fill organizational needs while also being BPA. Like what are we waiting for.
  11. If you have a chance at unloading contracts while dropping 8 spots as well as getting an extra 2nd round pick, you take that 100%. This draft is deep throughout the first round we can then actually draft guys who are not only BPA but fill an organizational need. Heidt, Danielson, Ritchie, Yager for centres, and Simashev, Willander, Strbak, for defenseman. Good chance we can walk away with 2 of these players with the 19th and 35th. At 11, Barlow, Benson if he falls, Honzek, Wood, are all wingers who are BPA at 11. I mean these guys aren’t bad choices at all, but a potential trade to actually address and solve several issues all with 1 trade, you take that chance anyday of the week. Draft Strbak with the 19th assuming Willander is taken, and then take one of the plethora of centres that are available at 35th. Simashev, Strbak, Willander are defenseman this team should be all over for. Big, physical, smooth skating two way defenseman. I personally think trading down is HIGHLY likely considering what these defenseman can potentially become for us 2-3 years from now. And the potential to move cap is there trading down.
  12. Not drafting a kid because his father was unfortunately found dead and it would cause a “distraction” is beyond stupid. Mixhkov is the best Russian prospect ever. Better than Ovechkin and Malkin. Better than any one to come from there.
  13. This guy is Malkin 2.0 with some shades of Mats Sundin. To me, he’s the 2nd best player of the draft. If I had #2 pick, I’d be running up to the podium like a little kid who stole some candy.
  14. Benson, Wood, Barlow, and ASP are likely who were selecting. Moore could perhaps be available but that all depends on Washington, Detroit, and St Louis who all could use a centre. Good chance Reinbacher, Dvorsky and Moore are gone by the 11th pick. Benson at 11 would be the steal of the draft. He’s Marchand 2.0. A total rat and a piece of shit guy that can play. He will be a gamer. It’s actually funny how this 5’10 165lbs kid plays more of a physical game than 6’1 Barlow and 6’4 Wood.
  15. He was never making the team from what I’ve seen from him. Guess we’ll see what he’s got when he’s 25. He’s still got a ton of potential. Nichuskin went back for 2 or 3 years if I recall and he matured a lot. If Kravtsov puts in the effort, he can carve a decent NHL career. KHL is probably the closest thing to the NHL and easily the 2nd best league in the world of hockey. It’s not over for him.
  16. I guess what he means is that Colorado and Edmonton have multiple players that are stars. McDavid alone is like a ton of star player, but they also have Drai and Bouchard. Avs have Mack, Rantanen and Makar. Also Mackinnon has had a ton of injury issues causing him to never hit 100 until this season (he was injured again remarkably) so using that against him is inconsiderate considering he was on pace to finish well above 100 points the last 4 years. I agree Pettersson > Drai but suggesting McDavid is a PP specialist is again disingenuous considering there’s been years he’s galloped over the next closest person in even strength points. In fact throughout McDavid career his even strength points is considerably greater than his career PP totals. I guess if I had to rank em all: McDavid Makar Mackinnon Pettersson Draisaitl Rantanen Hughes Bouchard So yeah that said I don’t think Edmonton is a good example of what makes a good team considering how terrible everyone else is compared to McDrai. Colorado is also a bit of a hard comp considering they have the 2nd best centre and the best defenseman in the NHL. Pettersson and Hughes are perfect to build a team around. I just am a firm believer in building through the draft considering it’s a proven formula that works most of the time. Retooling on the fly has never worked for ANY team in recent history. Essentially we’ve been retooling the last 10 years and are still where we are.
  17. actually fun fact, Wild Orcas are one of the only whales that have not killed a single human being in modern history. Though there’s been some deaths from Orcas in captivity although very rare.
  18. A spate of encounters between orcas and boats off the Iberian coast has puzzled scientists and sailors recently, as seemingly coordinated ambushes by the killer whales led to the sinking of three vessels. The reason for the attacks, according to one scientist who has studied the phenomenon, may be revenge. The leading theory is that a female orca suffered a traumatic incident with a boat — a “critical moment of agony” — that caused her to start attacking the vessels, Alfredo López Fernandez, a marine biologist at the University of Aveiro in Portugal, told the industry publication Live Science. The majority of the “disruptive” interactions between orcas and boats off the Iberian Peninsula in the past few years — López Fernandez said they numbered in the hundreds — have been brief and caused minimal physical damage to the vessels, according to a report co-written by López Fernandez and published in the journal Marine Mammal Science. But on at least three occasions, including one incident this month involving a sailing yacht, the orcas have sunk the boats. The female orca, whom scientists named White Gladis, appears to have taught the aggressive behavior to other adult orcas, whose children have begun imitating the behavior, López Fernandez said. In most of the interactions, the orcas strike the rudder or hull, the underbody, of the boat, according to the report, which included interviews with sailors and other witnesses to the phenomenon. Aside from “some punctual aversive incident” that may have triggered the attacks, the report said they may be caused by factors like loss of prey or disturbances by boats. Otherwise, the report said, it may just be because of the killer whales’ “natural curiosity.” Orcas are known to be extremely intelligent and capable of teaching one another certain behaviors, including actions that could be interpreted as violent. One episode in 2016 involving an orca drowning another’s calf left scientists “horrified” as they described a “first of its kind” observation of orcas carrying out infanticide, which has been documented in other species. 20. I’d do this trade in a heartbeat. Columbus I feel would too. Boeser in their top 6, Hoglander a promising young player, and that 11th overall pick they can use to draft a defenseman like Pelikka.
