  1. Trading Miller 2022 TDL - Grade A prospect, Top 6 young player and a 1st 2022 Off season - Grade B prospect, Top 6 young player and mid pick 2028 when Miller's contract is coming to an end - Canucks will have to give away a pick to shed this contract
  2. Imagine the returns if they traded Miller, Boeser and Pearson, and maybe even one of OEL, Hamonic or Myers. Could add some good prospects and young players, plus a couple of Top 50 draft picks. Next season could be rough, but they could also end up with a high pick at the 2023 Draft Now, add those good players to Pettersson, Horvat, Garland, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Hughes, Demko over the next few years. Contenders in 2024/25 or Re-sign Miller and not be a contender because there just isn't enough money to bring in better quality support players. Then, in 2024/25, Miller will be in his 30s and slowly declining. Oh, but no worry, he still has 5 years left at $9. Good times.
  3. Might even get a 1st overall pick I want the Canucks future to be bright, lots of high level prospects and young players on the team and in the system. Fast and skilled. But it feels like they're going to go all in on a 29 year old having the season of his life. It doesn't make sense, they aren't ready to compete and they're screwing their future. The D is also not good, it needs to be revamped.
  4. Remember when JR was hired and he went on about how the Canucks aren't in that part of the cycle (playoff team). He said they want to get younger and faster, build up the prospects, saying there's a lot of work to do. Sounded real good. It's been almost 4 months and I'm not even sure they've decided yet what they want to do. Meanwhile, teams like DET, NJ, LA, ANA, etc are building power houses. Canucks are relying on Miller and Demko to win all of their games.
  5. Oh look, it's Philly trading their best veteran player for youth. What an amazing idea. They know they aren't going to win the Cup with him, so they're looking to the future. Smart.
  6. It almost feels like the new hated rivalry (DET-VAN). Games have been really physical. Seeing Larkin punch Petey in the face, and he does nothing, brought back memories of another time. Good on Hamonic for stepping in. Boeser is having a bad game.
  7. I forgot that Motte, Hunt and Chiasson are also UFAs at the end of the season, so there's a good chance one or more gets traded at the TDL. I can see them re-signing Hunt as a depth D.
  8. They need to clear cap space, but I think this management will do little at the TDL and see what this roster can do. I wouldn't be shocked if Halak was the only one traded by Monday. They've played really well under Boudreau, so they'll give them a chance. Then, the big moves will happen in the off season, after VAN gets ousted by COL in Round 1. I can see JR/PA getting VAN another 1st at the Draft, by way of trade in the off season
  9. That's a good point. Maybe it does make more sense to re-sign Miller then. He's already a team leader, best player, familiar with the team and coaching staff, etc. Replacing Miller with a new guy could ruin whatever bond/identity the team currently has. But saying that, I think they need to trade Boeser at the least. Possibly Garland, Pearson and one of the veteran Ds as well.
  10. My concern is what ANA and LA are doing (divisional opponents). Maybe by then CGY, EDM and VGK will be on a downward slope? I think the Canucks need better prospects, to get younger and faster. I really like JT, but dang, he would fetch a ton in a return.
  11. They know what's up. And while MTL, ANA, NJ, LA, etc. are ready to compete with their fast, young core, the Canucks will have big contracts tied up with 30+ year old players (Miller, Bo, OEL). I wish they'd do a rebuild properly. Benning couldn't do it, he caved to the pressure of trying to make the Aquas happy with promised playoffs.
  12. The Canucks have to determine when their window is. They aren't ready to contend now, still not even a playoff team (or are they?) It might take 3-4 years before they're a real force. JT will be 33-34, and I suspect will play more of a supporting role for Petey and the youngish players entering their prime. Some tough decisions to make. It sounds like they'll re-sign him, but I hope they get it right.
  13. Shell shocked from LE contract, so it's probably just a knee jerk reaction on my part to assume JT will follow the same path. Kind of like how some here got nervous with the idea of trading Jake a while back - oh no! it'll be like Cam Neely all over again! Maybe JT can keep this up? I don't know, I just hope they can afford to pay Petey, Hughes, Demko, Podz, etc. when the time comes.
  14. I'm hearing it could be $9 x 8 years. Yikes, he's going to be a pretty old and slow $9 player one day. I'd say he has 3-4 years of being a "superstar", and then he's headed into LE territory.
  15. Whoa, there's a twist I hadn't considered! lol But I think that's highly doubtful, Petey is the future
  16. Pettersson should cut his season short and get surgery on that wrist. Sell at the TDL, this isn't the year, especially if Petey is out or playing injured.
  17. Petey's practicing with the team, he'll be back tomorrow, I think Although, apparently Hoglander is now hurt (lower body)
  18. Maybe this Liljegren rumour is just to help motivate PIT to do a (Marino) deal.
  19. I also really like Schenn, so I would prefer to not trade him. I don't think TOR accepts Poolman though. Halak for Liljegren sounds good to me
  20. We don't know what the deal is, if there's even a deal It might not be Garland or Motte going to TOR, maybe it will be Halak and Schenn. I'm guessing that if TOR is giving away a RD, they'll want one back, and they really want Schenn. They also need experienced goaltending. Would you do Halak and Schenn for Liljegren and a 2nd?
  21. Good, young, mobile RDs don't come along every day.
