  1. I'm now thinking if there's a Garland for Zacha trade, NJ has to add, either a prospect or a pick. Connor Garland for Pavel Zacha and Ty Smith
  2. The Canucks want to shed salary, and I wonder if it's so they can re-sign Miller and Boeser. Garland might be the trade chip that helps this happen. Pearson could be on the outs too? What about the D? Myers makes $6, but other RDs like Schenn, Burroughs and Juulsen have stepped up lately, and if Hamonic is back for good? Could add Myers to a possible trade.
  3. It's funny how one guy in the media says something and suddenly it becomes a thing. I wonder if JR is shaking his head thinking "where do these people come up with this stuff?" But, I suppose it could also be a real thing, because Marek probably has his sources and we don't really know what's going on. Sure gets people talking though, this rumour is heating up. Zacha is young (24), big and plays C and wing. He's also cheaper than Garland, and the Canucks want to shed salary, so it makes some sense. Could be a Garland for Zacha straight up trade though, so I hope some are prepared for that.
  4. Saw an interesting line suggestion, if the Canucks pursue trades with NJ and NYR Podkolzin - Zacha - Kravtsov could be good
  5. Demko was and had to be incredible again. It's not sustainable. He needs a better team in front of him.
  6. They all good now? Everybody hired? I think they still want to bring in more people over time doing different things (e.g. Director of Analytics), but I think this is it for the GM and A/GMs? Can they get on with making a trade now?
  7. I think Schneider might be off the table. VAN needs good D though, and if NYR don't want to give up Schneider, then I hope Allvin moves on to a team that is willing to make a deal. I've heard (RW) Kravtsov's name come up, but I'm not really a fan of this. The fact he refuses to play for the Rangers farm team speaks entitlement. Then again, he might have a pretty good case. The Rangers have a good team and depth, so it's tough for him to get any NHL ice time, and might not for some time. I can see why he'd want a better opportunity. He might actually flourish in VAN like Podkolzin seems to be. Kravtsov was taken 9th in 2018, two spots after Hughes. But yeah, Canucks need D
  8. Let's face it, the Canucks are not making the playoffs this year. They aren't good enough, and can't seem to string 2-3 wins together. They would need to go on a major run, but that seems improbable. What do they do at the TDL? I'm now hoping they trade some players for prospects, picks and young players. Give Rathbone, Lockwood and Martin a shot. I'd like the 2022 Draft to be one for the ages for Canucks fans. More than one 1st Rounder, recoup the 2nd, maybe add another. Maybe even secure picks for 2023. Build around Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes and Demko. If they decide to keep Miller, then trade Horvat instead. All 3 Cs will be too expensive in a couple of years. Keep the good (inexpensive) support players like Garland, Podkolzin, Highmore, Lammikko, Schenn, Burroughs and Juulsen.
  9. Centres Miller Horvat Pettersson Are they waiting to see how Petey does, whether he can find his game again, before making a decision on which two Cs they keep? I'm thinking one will go, my guess is it'll be Miller
  10. I can't wait for the Draft, going to be great if Castonguay and Granato are there getting involved (no offense Clancey), maybe handing out the jersey to the draft prospect? Cool stuff. I don't know, maybe Allvin will still want that privilege, being the new GM and leader of this management team. Times are changing, though, and it's great that the Canucks are the most forward thinking team. I suspect they'll set a new trend with other teams' hires. I also think they'll be meticulous in any trades and UFA signings. On top of the cap every year, smart contracts. They'll bring in players that will help the Canucks succeed, maybe not necessarily who the fans want, but the right players.
  11. Really SN650? I was listening earlier this morning, and then suddenly big sounds!! and Breaking News! "Oh this is seismic", said one of the radio guys. Then, they announce this. Who the hell cares? The Oilers have sucked with the best player on the planet since Gretzky, for the last 8 years. Move them to Quebec City. I was expecting a Canucks trade or something, considering it was Breaking News to Canucks fans.
  12. Ban him? Heck no, they'll put him in the Hall of Fame - guaranteed.
  13. Welcome Cammi! This new management group is diverse, a lot of smarts, experience and perspective in that room. I'm hoping they manage to transform the Canucks into a smooth running machine that gets in every year. Exciting times for Canucks fans. This is like ground level beginning of "How to build a Stanley Cup winning team". Start at the top.
  14. Starting to think the idea of trading Miller, the best player on the team, one could say the heart and soul - it's a ridiculous idea actually Be like, oh maybe lets say as an example - Boston saying 12 years ago - "Patrice is a great player, we should trade him to acquire assets and then try to win a Cup in a few years". No, you win with Patrice, not the return you get for him. Canucks need to hang onto the special players. Miller, Horvat, Garland, Podkolzin, Pettersson, Hughes, Demko. Everyone else is tradeable IMO, and I hope Allvin gets a bit aggressive with the improvements
  15. Allvin and his team have some really tough decisions on the direction this team is going. JR said they want to clear cap space, build a young core and add prospects, but then also said they want to be a contender in 2 years. Is that possible? How the heck are they going to clear cap space and become a contender? Then they said they don't need to trade one of the top players. I don't think they can trade Miller if they plan on becoming playoff team. I'm now thinking they'll re-sign him somehow.
  16. Yeah, looking at BOS prospects, there really isn't much to get excited about actually. I'd much rather add Kakko, Chytil and Schneider.
  17. BOS would want to include Debrusk in the return to make room for Miller, so they would actually pay more? (LW) Jake DeBrusk (LW) Fabian Lysell (LD/RD) Jakub Zboril (G) Jeremy Swayman 1st
  18. JT Miller's goal last night was very impressive. McDavid-like For a contender to add a player like Miller, with his nice contract, gives them an advantage heading down the stretch and into the playoffs this year and next. What if the Rangers, Bruins or Wild make Allvin an offer he can't refuse? I was downplaying Miller's value a little bit, but after seeing that goal, he's a special player. Damn I wish Petey could do that.
  19. Impressed with these guys too. Burroughs taking on the bigger Crouse and doing really well. Juulsen has also done well, two assists last night? He makes smart plays and has a bit of size, enough to play physical, and he's only 24 and a RD. The only thing with Juulsen is he needs to work on his skating a bit (edges/turns). He could be a good #6/7 next season, he's cheap. Funny, watching Juulsen and Chychrun, I'm not sure who was better in the game. I think Noah was actually. Chychrun can't skate either and he looks like a jerk. LOVED it when Podkolzin pushed back, shoving Chychrun into the boards and battling. What about Schenn? A lot of talk about trading this guy, but he's so solid, such a good team mate, a veteran mentor who's won the Cup twice, a physical presence. He only makes $850K and has an extra year left on his contract. Keep this guy! IMO, Poolman could be dealt. Ekman-Larsson - Myers Hughes - Schenn ?? - Hamonic Juulsen Burroughs Rathbone I keep forgetting about Hamonic, but if he can return and be a solid physical player again, it doesn't look so bad.
  20. Question is: How does JR plan to be a playoff contender in 2-3 years? I'm not sure Pettersson has what it takes to go all the way anytime soon. Hoglander and Podkolzin are too green. If they traded Miller, they would possibly finish near the bottom. Demko can only do so much. Be pretty wild if they traded Pettersson and Boeser for 2-3 good Dmen, and then went on a tear.
  21. Pod's new buddy? VAN would be a good place for Kravtsov
  22. Canucks need to clear cap and they'd like to acquire picks and prospects/young players. Assuming none of the top players get traded, and they keep their young players: What could they get for Myers, Pearson, Motte, Chiasson, Dickinson and Highmore? Maybe a package to acquire a Dman and #3C?
