  1. Halak might be the worst goalie in Canucks history. No, wait, I think he is the worst - for collecting that million $ bonus and refusing to waive his NTC.
  2. Not sure big Z can handle the (pacific division) travel at his age
  3. How will this affect the draft positioning of Yurov and Miroshnichenko? They could both be considered Top 10 picks, but could they end up dropping to 15-20?
  4. I'm thinking that teams like EDM and ANA might be getting a little nervous with the Canucks playing so well. Pressure is on them to stay ahead. Lot of hockey left though, so it's possible the Canucks get in. Might even come down to the last game of the season to determine. I believe the major overhaul will happen in the off season, and they'll continue with the roster they have. They might make a couple of minor moves at the TDL. Canucks have Demko and one of the top 3 Ds in the league IMO. If they can beef up the D, they could be very difficult to score on. Build around Petey, Podkolzin, Hughes and Demko.
  5. Perlini - Pick him up! Got size, was drafted high, so he has skills. Maybe an upgrade over Pearson? (cheaper anyway) He also played with OEL and Garland
  6. Really liking a couple of lines: Hoglander - Pettersson - Podkolzin Highmore - Lammikko - Motte I also think Horvat and Miller should stay (cond on money and term) That leaves Boeser, Garland, Pearson and Dickinson who I feel should be moved. I'll be keeping an eye on Zacha, Severson and Smith in this game.
  7. Well, worked the last two times: VAN - 1 CGY NYR NJ - 5 GWG - Miller
  8. Thinking, Jack probably bugs Quinn a bit about VAN's record (streak) against NJ, lots of trash talk. But it ends tonight, and VAN wins. Get ready to buy a painting, Jack.
  9. DET is building a championship team with their prospects: Lucas Raymond - ?? - ?? Filip Zadina - Joe Veleno - ?? Robert Mastrosimone - Michael Rasmussen - ?? Albin Grewe - ?? - ?? Simon Edvinsson - Moritz Seider Shai Buium - Antii Tuomisto Jared McIsaac - Gustav Lindstrom Sebastian Cossa I wonder if there could be a trade sending Boeser their way. They could use RWs and the Canucks could sure use a couple of their prospects.
  10. Hoping after this game the Rangers say "Okay, well give you what you want for JT", and then VAN says "nah" Thinking maybe a Garland and Poolman for Zacha and Smith trade, after the NJ game
  11. Miller and Garland on full display this trip. I hope they both have outstanding games out east. On a side note - if TOR is giving up 7 goals to DET, they aren't winning anything this year
  12. It would be great to have Schneider, but I don't believe NYR will part with him. I agree that the D needs improvement.
  13. Just my opinion, but I don't see how the Canucks would be that much better with this roster. It might even make them worse. Plus, they lose their 1st (but add two 2nds). VAN needs that 1st rounder and prospects.
  14. When Miller speaks, the owners listen. I think he may have played a part in the changes early in the season, screaming at Green "We don't know what we're doing!". He calls it like it is. After last night's game, Miller said how much he loves the black skate jerseys and wishes they could wear them every home game. What are the odds that Miller gets re-signed and the Canucks go back to the skate jersey? I can kind of see it happening.
  15. Miller will be with VAN next season, and for (5-6) more seasons after. I think they'll re-sign him in the off season, so it's not a distraction all season. But I don't see these players on the team to start the 22/23 season: Boeser, Garland, Pearson, Dickinson, Chiasson, Hamonic, Hunt and Halak
  16. Why would the Canucks trade the best player they've had since the Sedins were in their prime? Miller is the heart and soul of the team. Ripping that out of the roster kills their chances of playoffs. Even if they get a really nice return, they would be missing his drive and determination. I don't think Miller is going anywhere, just the Canucks f***ing with the rest of the league Then when they all realize Miller isn't available, they'll be lining up for Garland.
  17. 8 years is a long time to start paying a 30 year old $8.5. Miller will be 30 when his current contract ends. I'm thinking 5 years x $9m, but I agree they should re-sign him and build around him. Then when Miller is older (34-35) and coming to the end of his contract, Petey will take over as the guy in his prime to lead the team to another championship I'm hoping Miller gets us one. Boeser and Garland are the guys who should be traded.
  18. They were looking for an identity - Bruce, there it is
  19. It's funny to still see the TOR media chirping that the Leafs are interested in Miller. They're offering? Liljegren, Niemela or Knies. WTF? Are they kidding? Are we that bad overvaluing our players when we suggest trade proposals? Canucks fan: We should trade Rathbone for Nugent-Hopkins because we need a good C In order for any trade to work for VAN, it has to be a slap-in-the-face, knock-their-shoes-off, blow-them-away kind of offer. Like, starting with Nylander and their 1st.
  20. Miller just wants to win, and I believe that he think he can win here, now that the Aquas hire an experienced president and improved management and coaching. Six months ago he may have wanted out, but things have changed. There is hope. I think Miller loves playing for the Canucks and being the guy they rely on. He relishes this role. If he joined a contender, he'd be just another middle 6 forward on a strange team in an ugly city. No, I think he wants to be here and win here, he'd be a hero.
  21. Re-signing Miller - say for 5 more years, the Canucks would have him for the next 6 seasons. That would be 6 more seasons of Miller leading the way with players like Pettersson, Podkolzin, etc as top 6 support, and possibly playoffs every season. Once the 6 years is over, Pettersson and Podkolzin etc. will be in their prime (with new prospects developing and playing behind them), and then Petey and Podkolzin etc. will take the reins and continue being a playoff team every year. Be great if they could re-sign Horvat too, at a reasonable price. I think if they let Miller go, they will revert back to that boring team with no identity, the young guys in over their heads struggling to make playoffs. They need Miller..
  22. Such tough decisions about Miller. On one hand, he's the perfect player and the Canucks should keep him. On the other, the Canucks would get a lot back in a trade. The thing with trades though (player, prospects, picks), you never know how that's going to pan out. The prospects and picks might become nothing. The new player coming in might not find any chemistry and lose his game (Dickinson). With Miller, they know exactly what they've got, and he's a team leader and their best forward player. He's probably still got 5-6 years of real good hockey left in him. I think for what it would cost another team to get Miller, there might not be a team willing to give that much. I think they should re-sign him. $9 x 5
  23. I really like all of the Cs (Dickinson aside): Miller Hoglander - Pettersson - Podkolzin Horvat Highmore - Lammikko - Motte Like klw604 mentioned, they need to have fast wingers. I think Podkolzin, Hoglander, Highmore and Motte play fast, but others like Pearson, Garland and Boeser are slower in comparison. Sure would be nice to get Forsberg, or a couple of fast wingers like that.
