Two years out from grad, and I've paid off 20% of my student loans. This is good.

I am not using my degree in the sense that I am not in a science job, yet my degree was in biology. I am using my degree in the sense that a degree is a minimum requirement for my current job, and that my experience in that degree program (I work at a university, oftentimes hands on with students pursuing the same program) helps me do my job more effectively.
I don't quite make 50K but close to it, which is pretty good for someone with a bachelor's degree right out of grad (I didn't start out here, however- I got a promotion late last year). I took out almost that much in loans (a product of both the system and me being an irresponsible/uninformed borrower). With all that said, I'm pretty content with where I'm at. -
Glad to hear it, Thrusty!
You have to admit, education should not be a free market enterprise and should be overseen and regulated by the government, with direct council from heads of industry.
The fact that the bank can charge interest on a student loan is atrocious. The gov should be responsible for lending any educational amounts and zero interest until they can figure out how to just educate the right people, in the right sectors, for free.
The structure of the education system in the majority of European nations is vastly superior and I'm convinced we need to adopt similar models if we want to be a leading nation in the world.
