  1. The rich get richer. Still won't make them get past the ECF
  2. Had a great time watching Stranger Things S3, I'd give it an 8/10. One of not many TV shows that really transport you into a different era/place and do it effectively. The End of the F***ing World; 3 episodes in and honestly I'm very surprised by how much I like it. Very weird, very different, very psychotic. 7.5/10 Brooklyn Nine-Nine : favorite TV show that I can binge consistently over and over again and never get tired of: 9.5/10
  3. I disagree and say that although Baertschi is a top 6 player, that he fits in perfectly on the 3rd line. The guy is defensively responsible. Leivo has earned a spot, he's been physical, smart, hard on the forecheck and has been a pest creating turnovers. LE has been put in a defensive role because he dragged down Boeser Pettersson and Horvat. Goldobin is 23 yo and has shown flashes that lead me to believe he will still get his chance. We have enough defensively responsible players that make LE irrelevant. Beagle, Roussel, Sutter, Baertschi, Horvat, Pettersson. We will survive without that bum making more than every single canuck player. What a joke of a player.
  4. McAvoy, just like Boeser, will get payed. I'm not too worried about either of those players.
  5. The thing is he isn’t a 55 point player. He is when injuries cut a portion of his season, sure. But he was on pace for 38 goals as a rookie, 31 last year. That counts in negotiations.
  6. I did not ever watch him play. I do have some millenial bias towards Lidstrom for sure. For someone that doesn't know a thing about the league 40 years ago, isn't the skill level far superior in this day and age? Would someone like Orr be able to pot 100+ points a year?
  7. I spent 4 of my best childhood years in Coquitlam and Port Moody, and have wanted to come back ever since I left. I think the only barrier blocking me is that atrocious housing market. Boy did it ever skyrocket as soon as I left (circa 2004)....
  8. He could literally crack the top 6 on any team. Not because he's a bonafide elite 2nd liner (that's not what I'm saying) and that other options wouldn't be able to push him to 3LW. But look at a team like Pittsburgh who has a history of spreading out their talent and placing passengers like Baertschi beside Malkin and Crosby. That enables teams to make great offensive 3rd lines which are super hard to defend as any of those 3 lines can take advantage of a mismatches against bottom pairings. Any top team that would try to do that could afford to place Baertschi in their top 6, and a lot of bottom feeders as well like Edmonton, Ottawa, Buffalo etc... would gladly take him in their top 6. The issue has never been his skill, he's a great top 6 forward, we've just unfortunately gotten to the point where his head injuries are extremely concerning for the future.
  9. Demko. Future star goalie already showing huge promise. Has improved lots since his first game
  10. Bo Horvat has 3 more years of development completed than Boeser and is 2 years older
  11. Ok wow I had a lot of trouble interpreting what you had said so that's my bad. Yes I agree the Aho offersheet was low (I'm guessing Bergevin knew he would get matched so he put it right under the 8.5 threshold), smart move by him tbh. I don't know if it was you who talked about Boeser not being a driver and more of a passenger, but boy is Nylander ever a passenger... He can thank Matthews Kadri Marner and company for those numbers he got. Decent young player (decent in playoffs as well) but I consider Boeser a better player overall. Boeser has scored more goals than Nylander in much less games, and Nylander screwed himself over by waiting until the last day before he was ineligible for the entire season. Dubas had all the leverage at that point in the negotiation. Good example though.
  12. I never once said he would make 8.45 like Aho is making now. But, Look at what some GMs are ready to do for prime goal scorers and playmakers, check out Panarin's FA bids. The market is getting insane and most GMs would offer 7.5 for Boeser, I honestly believe that. We got insanely lucky that he's not offersheet eligible
  13. I became a fan during the 03-04 playoffs, so I'm completely biased towards the WCE and Sedin era. For me it's really simple: 1 - Burr slaying the dragon and Luongo's heroic OT save on Sharp 2 - Game 1 SCF 2011 3 - Game 5 vs SJ to send us to the Finals!!!! 4- R1 G7 2004 Playoffs 5 - Opening Night vs Calgary (i think it was 2009 or 2010) where we thrashed Calgary and Burrows threw the arrow to Luc for the first time Honourable mention : Vancouver vs Calgary 7-2 win (Hank to Dank between the legs x2)... Boy were we just too good at that point
  14. Meier plays on an offensive juggernaut and has played besides the likes of Thorton, Couture, Pavelski and with elite dmen like Karlsson and Burns. 10 more points than Boeser really doesn't impress me at all considering context. If Boeser was Offer-Sheet eligible, i think a lot of you guys would be shocked as to what some GMs would give up for Boeser. It wouldn't be 4x6 that's for damn sure
  15. What's worse is that some people like to use giveaways as a negative stat without any context. Most play drivers have a high number of giveaways. Amongst the leaders last year we have Gaudreau, Burns, Barzal, Draisatl, Doughty and Yandle. To add to that, Boeser was considerably futher down the list
  16. I'd argue that the Norris should be named after the greatest 2 way dman of all time, Nicklas Lidstrom.
  17. Kind of a weird deal right after the Butcher signing. It'll most likely be a bargain for Colorado in thos last 3-4 years though.
  18. I don't think a single person has said that he should sign for 8 mil this offseason. I think most are in the 6.75-7.5 range, 7.5 being acknowledged as a longshot. You and a select few are the only ones just low-balling him at 6 or less... I think if we are smart about this we do 4x7. He is elite whether CDC trolls nitpick stats without context or not. Some of you canuck "fans" are gonna look really stupid this time next year.
  19. I wholeheartedly and respectfully disagree. Watch his rookie season highlights. He was everywhere offensively and did everything for us. The entire opposing defense was constantly watching him, and for good reason.
  20. People seem to fix their opinion of Boeser's skating on his season after back surgery. Of course his skating took a step back this year, he couldn't physically skate like before, or train during the offseason. I expect Boeser's skating to be good this year. Hiring Bo's power skating coach would help as well, but that's the case for 95% of NHL players. I agree there is no proof of him being a defensive liability, or not using the body. The guy forechecked harder than anyone on our team not named Motte or Roussel at the end of the year. Guy was hungry.
  21. I think the injury concern was important to Canucks management and that is why they acquired Fantenberg. While Fantenberg isn't a top 4 dman, he is no slouch either and can handle 16 to 18 mns a night, and can possibly offer a couple of relief games at 20 mins (although that would not be ideal). I think sheltering Hughes was the reason we acquired OF. We really don't have a need for Gardiner at this point. As a side note, I've been an advocate of getting rid of Tanev for the past 5 years. The dude is good, but boy does the offense just die as soon as he touches the puck. I consider him the most boring player I have ever watched. 4.45 of cap relief at this point for a 2nd rounder and a B prospect and I bite. Please just get him off our hands.
  22. It's hilarious saying Marner hasn't won this, hasn't won that, when comparing to Kucherov. Last I checked, Tavares hasn't won jack-all in the NHL and neither has Matthews... Marner is their best player hands down and he's right to pinch every single penny he deserves. No get ou of jail free card for TO to get out of the mess they put THEMSELVES in.
