I'm very happy that the Canucks picked stability and patience with development over blowing things up yet again.

The team currently has absolutely nothing to show for from the 2006 to 2011 drafts (at least from their own picks), where most NHL players who are currently in their prime were picked. It was always going to be difficult to make this team much better than it currently is without mortgaging a bunch of future assets.
It's going to take a few more years before we can really see what kind of team Benning puts together, just like it took many years after Burke left to truly establish the mark he left on the team. Until then, I'm totally fine with letting JB try to finish what he started.

@Green Building I'm inclined to trade Hutton due to the depth we have below him at LW that need shots in the NHL. Holm, Pouliot, Juolevi and Brisebois all need good long shots in the NHL in the next couple years to see if they are NHLers. I like Hutton and think he's a capable NHLer but think he's replaceable with what we have now. Don't get me wrong though I'd rather trade Edler or Del Zotto but don't see that happening this deadline

That's a fair reason. No reason to jump into that at the deadline if we don't get fair value. I'd rather see them all compete for the jobs at camp and make moves then. I know we won't necessarily get as much value if we need to make a move, but at least that'll give some more time to see what we have first.
