If the defense keeps struggling, I wonder if it's time to call GM Armstrong in Arizona and revisit acquiring Chychrun.  As much as Hughes scores, he's not a player that our system can shelter, and because we need help in our own end that could come from giving Jakob a fresh start in a buy-low situation.  If that move does happen,

Not down to trade: Demko, Horvat, Garland, Chychrun, Podkolzin, Petey (barring an overpay)
Won't be able to trade: OEL

The rest are serviceable but not really core players, so given the right return it should be considered. 

I'm convinced Miller's the odd man out in our top six going forward, I'd move him to upgrade our D if that's what it took. Pettersson and Horvat aren't going anywhere, and I'd sooner keep Boeser over Miller give his age. Garland is value, and then you've got Hogz and Podz.

Miller's our best trade chip that isn't our 1st, and I'm adamantly against moving our 1st for a third year in a row, we need to restock the prospect pool as most of our blue chip guys have graduated. 

If we can deal Hughes for Chychrun, I'll drive Hughes to the airport.
