  1. Because players like Nicolas Hague (the teams only dressed drafted & developed player in the lineup) are picked in the 2nd round. It’s examples like these that prove what happens when you trade your 1sts and 2nd rounders often. 5/8 seasons we have traded our 2nd round pick. People will argue not every pick hits. Sure they don’t but if you trade enough high picks and wonder why the team has a tough time building their D corps and depth you know why. You & me nuts are going nuts from this routine of trading high picks away, I wish we would stop bleeding our future talent & depth.
  2. If you look at Vegas lineup tonight they have one, draft picked player in Nicolas Hague. That’s it. Sure they have a few in their black ace stable but it goes against building through the draft and having your own home grown stars. That’s the thing I f**king hate about it. But it is what it is. Hopefully this market helps boost the cap go up with all the champ merch and fan growth from this.
  3. You heard correct but this is the leagues golden child and they will not be denied their 6 year cupless drought. First 21st century expansion team to win a cup (1/4)
  4. Very true in that they have a impressive D corps but are thin in the middle and I agree with your post that a Miller trade would be ideal for both teams. We Need addition by subtraction so we have more cap and blue chip prospects in the system as much as a hole it would be to trade our 2C. But the Miller signing long term never made much sense for our competitive window. I’m all aboard for something you have put forth.
  5. Looks like CBJ have their right side on the D assembled pretty well. Having Guddy as a spare tire at 4 million a season for the next two years is a “real gud look” WERENSKI-$9,583,333 Cap Hit PROVOROV-$4,725,000 Cap Hit SEVERSON-$6,250,000 GUDBRANSON-$4,000,000 Cap Hit
  6. It’s undrafted players like Zach Whitecloud that give me hope we are a few of these found money diamonds in the rough of turning this defence around. Hopefully Hirose and McWard can be just that.
  7. I want Florida to win it for former nucks Luuuu and Forsling. but my gut says it will be the knights in 6 games. Regardless of who the winner will be, it’ll be gold (jersey colours) taking home a silver cup.
  8. You dropped your bingo card good sir. Every off season, we don’t think our D core don’t stink and every start the last 3 years we are reminded how much it still stinks. I sure hope we have ran out of the benefit of the doubt but the denial is strong. We all know what needs to be fixed and yesterday.
  9. Just like TO. “Where’s the caviar” https://www.instagram.com/reel/CrkEl5ig1lV/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ%3D%3D
  10. They will be released shortly after the 2023/2024 NHL schedule will be unveiled. I’d say quarter/half season ticket packs will come out in July, post NHL draft and schedule release. And on a side note, you’d think with all the renovations happening at rogers arena (new media room, VIP seats and tunnel to a exclusive restaurant) that they would spend some time making fitting/change rooms at their team store. Like you, I dropped my pants to try on sweats (how else are you going to know if they are the right fit) and the staff told me that I had to leave. I understand it’s really hard to shuffle things around an arena that’s in between two viaducts but come on, where are people supposed to try on the merch before they buy it.
  11. I mean aside from the bubble run of 2020. There haven’t been many “hurrah” moments in the last 10 years for fans to clamour onto. Young fans might be too young or new to remember the 2007-2013 days which were the teams best years (2008 we missed the playoffs but the rest were solid) which it feels like forever that we’ve had consistent success.
  12. Summer is out and it’s the perfect time to say: “Callum? I think I need a cool wet rag/blanket for my forehead, and a place to lie down”-Spence Diamonds Wawhoooo!!!
  13. That may be true, but the return Calgary got back did soften the blow of losing him and retaining valuable assets. Which is a lot more of a return ( Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, prospect Cole Schwindt and a conditional first-round pick in 2025) then was Juho Lammikko and Noah Juulsen was. I’m happy Juulsen is still with the club and is a RD depth piece but wither MT Vancouver would have bailed on us as well, the return would take away some of the sting.
  14. This is the news article for “Owners who can’t do good and wanna learn to make his fans buy his other team stuff too”? Oh Aquaman/Merman
  15. When Atlanta moved to Winnipeg the Jets had to play in the Southeastern division for 2 seasons until they realigned their conferences moving CBJ and Detroit to the east. That’s a lot of work to ask an eastern team to move back west just so the Coyotes can move to Quebec City. What team (Detroit or Columbus) is going to agree to that? It’s just easier for the league to relocate the team to a market that’s still considered in the central division. Heck @24K PureCool had a good suggestion of swapping Vegas to the central division if there is an owner in Portland who wants to buy the team and move them to the pacific. It’s not that Hamilton or Quebec don’t make sense being a good fit for a hockey market, it’s that there are more moving parts for it to happen. It might take several seasons for Quebec/Hamilton to continue to play in the central division like it did with Winnipeg playing out of the southeastern division from 2011-2013 I believe the realignment happened after the 2013 lockout. Of course another Canadian team would be fantastic but it’s trickier to switch with a conference swap then it is within a geographical market. That’s all I’m saying. I’d love to see it though. I don’t think we will see a team in Quebec City unless an eastern team needs to relocate or expansion. It’s going to be either Salt Lake City/Houston/Kansas City and a chance of Portland (with Vegas moving to the Central) being the Coyotes new home.
  16. This is it. Of course logically Quebec City is the best market without a hockey club but it’s also the most complicated relocation option compared to Kansas City/Houston. Unless a Eastern team wants to play nice (and why should they) move to the western conference, this move to Quebec won’t happen. So as much as it would be awesome to see the Nordiques back, it’s the most difficult move to do. The league would have to realign two teams, which is more complicated than to just move the Yotes to Houston which would remain in the central division. These are the things that people forget when they think Quebec City would be a quick solution, it’s not. As much as we want it. Gary would have some work to make that happen and I don’t see it happening. It’s Houston or Kansas City.
  17. 100% the most frustrating thing about following this team the last decade is the constant bleeding away draft picks for quick fixes. Sick and tired of people telling me that not all draft picks will pan out. I know this but teams mainly build through the draft and not every pick is going to hit. That said, how much depth/talent have we traded away with the picks the last 8-9 years? At some point the bill comes due and our team won’t ever be deep enough to build around Petey/Hughes and Demko. We see it Gurn and we are sick of it!
  18. Here’s hoping the Canucks and Kraken meet next spring. It will all depend on what cap flexibility our management can fix. It’s the Canucks turn to respond to make it next year and build up a real rivalry. The ball is in your court JR/PA/FA.
