  1. Dropping to 5th overall is a big FU to tank nation. Look who got number 2 and 3. Smh

The biggest tankers of the season just landed Matthews.  If anything this will only embolden the tankers.  Not that the Canucks will ever tank as bad as Toronto just did, but your argument fails.

  2. Mantha went from being dog $&!# and having no effort into his game to suddenly being a two-way force.

    Classic red wings development.

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

This style of development is pretty common among most teams in the NHL lately, including the Canucks.  The NHL simply cannot afford to squander prospects when they have expansion plans in mind.

  3. Can someone show me how to make a thread, It's been a whole 5 minutes since one has been created and I feel the need to be trendy:rolleyes:

No.  But I can tell you how to make another intriguing status update.

  4. Sam Elliott.... Kurt Russell...Tombstone.... a cup of tea.... a healthy shot of NyQuil..vaporizer on and fuzzy bunny slippers - is there a better way to spend a Saturday morning?

  5. As much as I hope the Canucks get a really high pick, I'm not looking forward to the flame wars that are going to follow about who we should pick. Remember how bad it was when we got 6 and drafted Virtanen? Can you imagine how bad it'll be if we get 2 or 3?

  6. Bruce Arthur just said he heard Stamkos would prefer Vancouver over Toronto.

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

Stamkos will end up where it makes the most sense for the league.

  8. Cam Newton's reactions are epic.

Quiet in the postgame presser though.  He was raked through the coals, predictably.  Got up and left after stupid question #59.  I think he'll recover.

  9. people on here are always maligning vey...imo, he is playing better than, mccann, etem, vrbata, and even burrows at times...i'ld love to see him on horvat's line....he is a smart hockey player...i can see why, willie likes him...

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

You're correct about Vey here, but this is actually quite bad for the Canucks, as all those other players should be performing better than Vey.

If Vrbata is traded, then Vey might see some time on that line, but you have to wonder if WD wants to develop him as a centerman.

  10. Joel Queneville gets away with more than any other coach.

  11. Am I the only one who thinks Bowey is overrated around here? A good top 4 D prospect don't get me wrong, but I don't see him anymore than a #3 in the NHL

  12. Stevie Y in the making in Dylan Larkin. GOAT

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

The Detroit System is so good now that they can get this kind of performance from a player who hasn't even been in it long.

  13. Warning to  CDC: Stamkos is not a player we should be targeting. He isn't the same as before the leg injury.  Go watch him and you will see how in the hard-hitting west he will be stopped. We need the cap for our prospects next contract and new tough guys. Go to the opposite team forum that Tampa played on most nights  on hf boards. ask about Stamkos and they will say oh wow he got a goal and an assist +1 but didn't actually notice him much 95%  of the time. Stats lie a

I agree, but he probably would not sign here regardless.

  14. Claude Giroux and Mats Zuccarello have the ugliest strides for relatively fast guys.

  15. The last power forward the Canucks developed was Todd Bertuzzi.

  16. sooo if vinny lecavier is tradeable  higgins, burrows should be easily traded retain half their salary  play gaunce and grenier make it happen benning otherwise waive emm

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

Only if they guarantee retirement are they tradeable.

  17. Could we have acquired Johansen for Tanev?

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

That moment when you realize that Tanev isn't quite that great.

  18. I think Botchford has crossed the line, but then again Toronto doesn't care as long as Marner is the golden boy.

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

So should the fans string up and ship Botchford out of town now instead of Virtanen?

Or should the fans just calm down and realize it's just a business being a business?

  19. The Provinces fullpage spread on Jake Virtanen...the kid is 19...Botchford really likes to push the line of rspectable

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

The fans just watched the WJC, so it only makes sense to focus on that spectacle for the time being.  The Canucks will play again soon, and the stories will change.

  20. LOL to all the people saying Pedan doesn't have the foot speed to keep up at this level.

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

The Canucks can now safely trade any of their overpaid defensemen and replace the person's tasks to be done here with Pedan.

They should do that immediately before they lose him for virtually nothing, just like they did with Dale Weise, who is now a truly great player in Montreal, a far better team currently than the Canucks.

  21. Could have had Nylander...

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

However, if I were Jim Benning, I would not select Alex Nylander.  The Canucks already have Brock Boeser, who plays with a similar style in the same position, and the Canucks have other needs.

  22. Could have had Nylander...

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

William is currently concussed.  It is unfortunate, but also states an underlying risk with him that may last his whole career.

Anyway, by all accounts, William's brother is the better player.  Perhaps you will get your Nylander, Canucks fans.

  23. Respect lasts longer than a cheque

    1. BanTSN

      BanTSN

Not if the cheque is for a quadrillion dollars.  That's hella money.

  24. Boeser only 1pt in 10 goals.  Bust.
