  1. I am excited. This is a team I love now and may hate later when they become a rival but I love that the Canucks could finally have a natural rival. As for Quebec, hopefully the NHL will come to its senses and allow a team bleeding money to move there but other location like Houston and Kansas City also been courting the league for a while. ****Go Seattle Sasquatch*****

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

It is a pretty short list of prospects in Utica with Gaunce's size and defensive acumen so I don't know who else deserves Gaunce's spot to fill this specific role. If you are looking for scoring then maybe it is a different story but the big club already has lots of guys who play a scoring role.
  3. Hope he is that guy in 5 years that 30 other team's fans second guess their team's pick and say, "why didn't we take Lind"?
  4. Maybe but I hope this team is "Woo'ing Woo" or "booking a trip with Woo Jett" because it would mean the Canucks have a better year and that no one has a cooler name than Jett Woo.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

All in all, I thought every d-man played bad today from a defensive POV but OJ was the best. I am not worried, if he can be brought in playing sheltered minutes he should be able to adapt well to the NHL
  6. Maybe a current photo of Burmistrov?
  7. Why does it look like the four guys on the left are huddled together and are all at least an arm's length away from #11? Reminds me of that old picture of a class photo where all the kids leave the kid with a Canadians sweater on off on his own.
  8. I don't think I have ever posted on this thread. Yes, we need Burr....after he retires he can come and join the team in some capacity.
  9. I think you got it wrong.. it was his birthday last week so it should be "Jake had some cake".........
  10. Are you a David Suzuki fan? Remember the time he got caught poaching? Seems to me all the granola eaters in BC and Canada overlooked this because it was their posterboy hero. Give the kid a break .
  11. I like that......I would add that maybe he can shoot for some toughness and follow Stallone's example in Rocky 4 since it was filmed in Vancouver and go up to Whistler and jog in the snow and do arm curls with logs.
  12. I don't think anyone is really comparing him to Bure instead myself and others have pointed out that it is good for the young man to aspire to be like Bure, essentially to aim big. In other terms, maybe aspire to be like any smallish player who has done well........be like St Louis, be like Gaudreau, be like Ronning, etc. I'd rather want for him to be like Bure than to aim yo be like Steve Kariya.
  13. Or eligible based on number of international games played. The Canucks European scouts pulled some sanctioned game scoresheet out of nowhere from a game no one else seemed to know was played to get the favourable ruling. I hope that Palmu does think he is Bure, with that kind of confidence a young guy can go a long way, I hope he is thinking big.
  14. Who would win? The 1984 Oilers or a team full of Burrow's? Answer = Da Burrs How about a cage fight with GSP, Hulk Hogan and Ivan Drago against Burrows. = no contest.....da Burrs takes 'em all down.
  15. This is my favorite picture of Lastname. Thats him down on the ice.
  16. Kole Lind(en). Wears #16 as well. He'll have to pick a new number for training camp.
  17. Watched him play in the under 17's. He was incredibly athletic and made some amazing saves. Glad to have him in the fold, also, he looks like a great interview judging from the draft when his buddy Vilardi was picked.
  18. This guy has character written all over him. Love this pick
  19. I'm starting to really like Mismash the more I read about him. Looks like a player who can play all through the lineup and is a solid net front presence. He reminds me a bit of Boone Jenner the way he plays. Not to mention, he may qualify for the all name team.
  20. Thanks for pointing this out. I was missing the enthusiasm of McGuire and Bobby Mac. These guys are very knowledgeable on the prospects in the draft whereas Sportsnet didn't seem to really know a whole lot about the players. And the green room....I wonder if that was the NHL or if it was Sportsnet, either way it seemed like a fail when in a draft like this year it is impossible to predict the top 8 or so.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Well said. With Green as the coach I think Gance will start to flourish and let everyone know what we really have in him. I've been behind this guy since he was drafted and I think he presents a very positive demonstration to the other younger players as to how hard you have to work to make it to the NHL and how to keep making yourself needed.
  22. Wow, he is such a great special teams player and such a leader on the team. He will be missed. Maybe he can provide a third generation of Arakgi's for the Lions.

Completely agree. Gaunce is one of the smartest players on the ice and does exactly what the coaches want him to do. He is capable of far more than what minor league Willie let him do.Watching him play games made me realize how he can be an impact player and how hard he tries every shift which will translate into more points and an enhanced role over time.
  24. My question with Mittelstadt is why did he return to play high school this year instead of playing junior for a full year. I would think this would have helped answer some questions about the skill level he was playing against. He didn't go back to his junior team until after the high school season ended. A developing player should be seeking out opportunities to play at the highest level he can to prove he belongs there. This is like a Canadian kid opting to go back and play his final season of midget instead of playing in the CHL or BCJHL, etc. I remember long ago a Canuck draft pick doing the same thing, Patrick White. It seemed the mystery of his skill level intigued the Canucks enough to gamble on him wheras once he hit college, his overall skill and dedication to improving wasn't there.
