The report itself doesn’t really get what is going on.
Without more information it is hard to say exactly what is going on but the likely explanation given the number of surgeries and the PICC line is that he has had post op infection. Assuming they had to put some plates or other hardware in the hand initially, it is very hard to treat an infection around an implant. The PICC line would be there just for long term IV antibiotics.
One of the things to remember is superbugs like MRSA go around gyms and athletic facility like wildfire. These are often hard to treat and frequently will require long courses of IV antibiotics. If he got post operative infection a number of surgeries may very reasonably be done to remove hardware, drain infection, provide other types of support to healing structures such as external fixation.
While the external interpretation of this may be like Quinn said, a botched surgery, that is less likely to be the case. Complications sometimes happen unfortunately and a hockey glove is a nasty place to stick a wound.
Good luck to Pearson. Thought he was one of Benning’s better pickups, especially for what he cost and was under-rated on this board.
