If multiple family members test positive for COVID, are they allowed to quarantine together over the holidays?
COVID IS SERIOUS, WEAR A MASK!

I think the province would still ask that people dont do it. In the event of a car accident or mechanical trouble en route to the gathering, it becomes an exposure risk.
And i think you have to look at everyone's travel. If people were needing to stop for food and gas, that would be pretty irresponsible.
Maybe if you live down the street from your family and you all have covid....

Camp is a great way to save money if you can keep yourself in good habits. If you have any self destructive tendencies then steer clear. Camp is hard on mental health.
Government jobs are great, especially if you plan to work in government long term. The pay is fine and the benefits are good. You can transfer locations. Pension is a nice bonus. If it is a desk job then you can continue to work while you rehab.
I guess it depends what your career goals are, long term.

Who’s one prospect you’re really disappointed he never panned out? For me it’s Hunter Shinkaruk. Dude had sweet hands and was overall really good when he was drafted.

I don't get people.
You want to hunt or fish for food. No problem.
You want to go to a gun range. Also no problem.
Want to shoot live targets, play paintball. Again no problem.
This. I have a problem with.
Hope they rot in hell.

Agreed. Put the effort into stopping poachers and eliminating the market. But that costs a lot of money.
Right now that money comes from charging thousands of dollars for hunting tourism. Maybe when their economies become more stable, the money can come from elsewhere. For now, it's better than doing nothing because then poaching takes over, which is far more devastating than trophy hunting in scale alone.
We are fortunate enough to live in a country with a strong enough economy that we can pay government employees to enforce ethical and sustainable hunting. Many countries in Africa aren't that lucky so the money has to come from somewhere.
It's not perfect, I hear you.

^ There are limited amount of "resources" aka "animals"....so it seems like a short-sighted plan. Then what? I'd prefer other means of generating revenue that don't support slaughtering innocent creatures "for fun".
I'd like to see some solid info/stats to back up your claims. I believe people go to Africa, mostly, to "see Afrcia". Not to kill something.
Trophy hunting accounts for a fraction of the R323 billion that tourism contributed to South Africa’s GDP in 2013. About 8,500 trophy hunters visit South Africa each year, compared to around 9.5 million tourists.
You are right! There are a limited number of animals. There are a limited amount of animals UNLESS conservation measures are taken into effect, which is money generated through trophy hunting. It's not short sighted because that money is spent on conservation. It is spent on directly hiring PHs (professional hunters) to monitor the land and protect it from poaching operations. So there is no "then what?" scenario, as the populations of these animals are stronger when poaching is being monitored and stopped.
They do have restrictions on how old an animal should be when killed and how many can be killed each year. Many of the animals targeted are big, old "trophies" but are past their prime mating years, so it doesn't endanger the growth of the population.
And really Deb, I fully agree. I also would prefer other means of generating revenue that doesn't support slaughtering those animals "for fun". Good luck dictating those animal rights values to an economically disadvantaged country. Good luck telling them that the conservation money should come out of their health care or education budget. I don't think you can cite numbers that only represent South Africa and generalize that to all of Africa. Africa is very diverse.
I'm just saying that it's a far more complex issue than "white rich couple goes to Africa to murder innocent animal". Is trophy hunting stupid? Yeah I think so. Does all of the literature point towards it helping sustainable populations of animals in impoverished countries? Unfortunately also yes.

I'm not sure what people get out of it. I hunt but trophy hunting doesn't interest me.... however, the argument FOR trophy hunting is a good one.
It costs THOUSANDS of dollars to shoot an animal in Africa. Some animals cost more than others, based on their prevalence and the cost of managing them.
That money is directly funneled into species management (paying people to protect the animals from poaching, which is a serious issue in Africa AND paying for conservation efforts and expanding wilderness protection areas). It sounds counter-intuitive, but the money from hunting actually saves more animals than it harms.
This is evidenced in countries of Africa that have strong hunting tourism versus countries that do not. In areas that promote the hunting tourism, the populations of animals are actually quite healthy and well managed. In the other areas, the populations have been devastated by poaching and in some cases disease, as there is no effort/money for wildlife management
It takes some time to wrap one's mind around, but I can't think of a better way for an economically disadvantaged country to manage their wildlife. So for the time being, I don't engage in African trophy hunting but I do support it.

Just realized Canucks are paying $8.75 M per year for two players in their prime who over past two seasons put up 44 goals 99 points and then 30 goals and 87 points. Injecting that kind of offence into lineup along with their size and nature of play - nicely done Canuck management.
-
The salary cap has certainly made the league more interesting. I like to think that these kind of signings become more important to team success rather than landing those big fish generational talents who command franchise crippling paycheques.
I always follow the Canucks whether we are winning or not, but this is the first time I've been excited to watch in a long time.
