i know it's all about 'BPA,' but i'd be down if the canucks went after nothing but boom or bust defencemen next june.

If we make the playoffs we won't have a first round pick next June, so here's hoping our first pick is in the 2nd round. If so, I am sure Benning will have a surprise up his sleeve. Like Hoglander from last year. Maybe he can draft a Dman that falls into the 2nd round. Lots of #1 Dmen in this league that got drafted in the 2nd round. Keith, Weber and Subban to name a few.

Right now Benning has had 7 1st round draft picks.
5 of those 7 are playing in the NHL.
4 of them currently for Vancouver.
1 is in Russia and will be here at the end of his KHL contract.
This is not including his later round picks which like Gaudette is a 5th round, 149th overall pick that looks to be a steal.
Drafting is one aspect of this team that instead of a weakness is turning into a strength.
Not to mention Benning picking up picks like Teves and Rafferty, and Stecher for free from the NCAA.
