  1. Well you’re insinuating we’re not valuing him is what I was responding too. By saying that you’re saying you want to pay him above his fair value which would bring his cap hit into the 8 million dollar range which would be a big mistake. I compare Horvat to Toews because it seems the reason he’s valued so high is his intangibles rather than his skill level on the ice. He’s having an outlier season in a contract year and his intangibles have led our team to one bubble playoff year. He’s not an eight million dollar player. He’s hardly a seven million dollar player. Let someone else overpay him. The recency bias on this board is ridiculous. We’re moaning over management not paying a guy who is not a line driver 8 million dollars a year. He’s a finisher yes, but so was Anson Carter.
  2. The same people who paid Jonathon Toews 10.5 million a year to put up second/third line stats. InTanGiBleZ
  3. Lol exactly. Top 4RHD with top pairing potential and a top 5 pick with more potential than Horvat has ever had PLUS some additional pieces WOW. We’d be lucky to get one of durzi or turcotte for Horvat
  4. So here in North America we supposedly have freedom of speech, but we must all also obey and not voice our opinions that go against the norm. How about we just let these guys play hockey instead of judging them for every single little thing they do or don’t do. This is why players go play in the USA. To get away from Canadian fans who expect so much more from them (rather than the billionaire owners of the team). We’d probably drive Bedard out of town if he ever landed here.

I would welcome an established defence man and get rid of nice guy Boeser personally
  6. That was a one time deal and I’m sure looking back everyone can see how big of a mistake that was. Washington fans definitely see that as being a mistake. I guess our management can see if a team makes a big mistake like that but we shouldn’t expect a team too. Yeah as they should be. Unfortunately the NHL isn’t like the NBA where teams actually go all in to win. Look at Florida last year though. They went all in and went no where. I’m talking EP40 before he played his first NHL game. Not our 2022 draft EP imposter haha. Classic good ol Canadian boy that plays the right way mentality. OEL for Guenther is not a similar trade at all. People are asking for franchise level prospects for Horvat (Byram, nemec, jiricek, wright). All from teams that are not contenders or in the Avs case, already won a cup.
  7. For the people asking for Nemec, Jiricek and Wright in their proposals, ask yourselves this…would you trade SHL Petey for a deadline rental 2nd line center looking to cash in on an outlier season?
  8. It’s hilarious that this is even a conversation. Miller showing some fire and y’all are wishing he acted like a snowflake instead. Typical Vancouver culture. The endless overreaction to every difference in opinion and body language analysis is why we’re laughing stocks of the NHL. You think grown men want to play for a city where we overanalysis their every move? EP40 is as good as gone haha
  9. So one of the top RHD prospects in the NHL with team control for the next decade, a first round pick that’s going to be a lottery pick and a young centreman for a career 50-60 point center and a minimum salary NHLer…….are you serious?
  10. Bo will be the new Boeser in a few years when you realize we’re paying an over 30 year old complimentary scorer 8 million a year to score 50 points and not be a defensive stalwart. Also, cap space is king nowadays in the NHL. No one is giving a 2nd round pick for Myers, also if Minnesota wanted they could probably flip Dumba for a 1st round pick plus at the trade deadline. Why would they flip him for Boeser? A player that it’s pretty obvious the Canucks are trying to get rid off. Reverse the trades here for a second and tell me if you’d trade our first for Boeser? No, so why would Minnesota give up their chance to unload Dumba at the deadline? Bjorkstrand is arguable a superior player to Garland and he netted mid round draft picks as well. Cap is KING nowadays. We’re not dumping the guys we don’t want for the most valued assets in the NHL nowadays aka young RHD. I think if it really was that simple, the management team would’ve made these moves by now. It’s clearly not that simple.
  11. The point is they’re not going to build around him, they haven’t built around him, so there’s no point keeping him around at a franchise player’s price point
  12. He’s the Captain. Maybe he should start using some pull and show some passion instead of being passive aggressive and mute. Speak to management and make his feelings known about the types of players we need. Oh wait….he’s like the fifth best player on our team, of course the management isn’t going to build the team around him
  13. What was the hype behind this guy? He was drafted 30th overall. Essentially a second round player
  14. It seems a lot of the sadness surrounding not signing him is that he’s a nice guy….big whoop. His performance isn’t worth signing him to big money. He’s a secondary player looking for a primary star contract, he’s not worth it plain and simple.
  15. The overreactions on here are hilarious. Horvat is no Patrice Bergeron as y’all are making him out to be. He’s not even as good as Toews ever was (who arguably is one of the most overrated/overpaid players ever), yet people are losing their minds over not being able to resign Horvat for 8million plus. Miller at least is capable of passing and creating offence. Horvat is definitely more of a finisher and he wins faceoffs sure but he’s no offence creator. NBA players don’t pay their players who finish alley oops and get rebounds as much as the player who passes them the ball and create offence. Same principle here. A faceoff specialist who gets gravy opportunities in the bumper spot on the power play surrounded by some of the most creative offensive players this franchise has ever had is NOT WORTH EIGHT MILLION. Also, the man is having a career year in his contract year at a time in his career where this could very well be his last chance to cash in…a LOT of risk in signing Horvat specifically
  16. This is not a breakout, this is a statistical aberration. Horvat is shooting 23.3% which is 10% higher than his average of about 13.7%. Doing the research there have been only a handful of players post 2010 who have sustained that percentage over a full season. I could be wrong and he could keep it going and hit 90 points, but he could also come crashing down to earth and finish with 65-75 which seems most likely. He’s been tipping in shots, Bo is no sniper. He’s also doing this during his CONTRACT year. There’s a lot of money on the line for Mr Horvat. I’d rather him walk if he’s looking for Miller money.
  17. I’m glad that I provided you with some new insight. Thanks
  18. Horvat plays the bumper role on the PP and is a centre who DOES NOT SET UP HIS LINEMATES. Is this really a centre that the fan base wants to lock up to a long term contract at a high per? He really is not an offensive weapon, nor is he a major defensive stalwart (but we all act like he is because he’s a “nice guy”. Bo doesn’t make anyone better, nor is he a high end finisher. He’s kind of there any finds moments to chip in. Very much a passenger in the same vein as Boeser. Garland arguably creates more offensive chances. hot take: Bo is more like Anson Carter than most think
  19. So you think about Horvat is worth 500k less than JT miller because he’s good at faceoffs? What else does Horvat do to warrant such a high cap hit? Why does Horvat deserve to get paid a little less than Hughes and at a level similar to Pettersson? If you were an outsider looking in, would you do a one for one trade giving up Hughes or Pettersson to land Horvat and his faceoffs? Also Horvat is not statistically a top 3 faceoff man currently. Top 10 for sure though. There’s a lot more to defence than just winning faceoffs too Brock Boeser is also overpaid, but that doesn’t mean we have to start overpaying all of our players now. Brock had a qualifying offer of over 7 million dollars that he could’ve just accepted, which is why I’m assuming his cap hit is higher than it should be.
  20. From a ppg point, Bo hasn’t really improved drastically from when he signed his current contract. I think at most he should be looking for a half million dollar raise, and nothing more than 6.25 million, but that’s just me. He’s in no way a 7 million dollar player.
  21. We should just package boeser and miller for Pastrnak
  22. Domestic terrorism? It's freedom of speech. Although I don't agree with the freedom convoy, it's important in a DEMOCRATIC society to be able to speak up to perceived oppression. Obviously enough people felt this way for them to voice their opinions. Without that, you essentially are living in an oppressive state. There's protests all the time in other parts of the world, it's just foreign to us.
