  1. He will also be a very big man when all is said and done. His neck is a little freaky for a 19yo. I am seeing an Ovi style player, obviously Podz doesn’t have Ovi’s elite skill, but he does use quick thinking skill and timing to take advantage of the reckless style he attacks with. It just keeps coming up for me as a totally biased, homer, blue and green coloured glasses comparison. go Nucks go
  2. He is a very intelligent, high character guy with a great mind for the game. His lack of speed has and will likely continue to hold him back as a player but I wouldn't be surprised to see him pop up behind a bench one day.
  3. Can’t imagine Hornqvist blocking a trade that sends him to a tax free state
  4. he's an effective nhl'er and at a great value for another year.
  5. In semiotics, a post modern theory of language and symbol put forth by Roland Barthes, a things meaning is defined by it’s opposite. They are talked about as dominant and recessive binaries. Feminism has used this theory to discuss how groups, such as women and people of colour, have been historically subjugated in favour of a white male dominant class whose privilege only exist as a function of the subjugation of the other side of the privilege binary. White men can perhaps feel the slipping away of a long held position of high regard within western culture and it is scary and uncomfortable for some. so to answer your question: Yes, semiotics would say we need someone to have less so we can feel we have more.
  6. Stone and Reilly have been playing JT real hard physically, taking runs at him when his head is down. Good to see it is only fuel to the fire!!!
  7. The boys have come through two heavy , goonish teams. There heads will be on a swivel. As long as their special teams remain a weapon it will keep the tomfoolery in check.
  8. I would say JB has used appropriate decorum regarding LE21. It’s not JB’s fault that LE experienced a meteoric decline in offensive production since arriving in Van, essentially not holding up his end of the contract. I have not heard JB throw LE under the bus once since that time even though it must be tremendously frustrating and humiliating for the GM how this player has folded up. You could put this signing error on JB, and you would be correct to a degree, but there are many many GMs who would have added LE as a UFA without foreseeing the immediate cratering of his offensive game once signed.
  9. Another antique from the blue jacket CBC era. His love for nostalgia stinks like mothballs.
  10. iMac called him Billington on post game. ...might be a name we forget quickly
  11. Frickin Don Cherry. It's bizarre how he remained relevant for so long whilst being a bumbling absurdity.
  12. This guy is an animal with ice in his veins. Really impressed with his ability to maintain intensity and be effective in playoff hockey. There were legit questions about his size and how his ability would translate to post season. I think Troy has answered those questions! Also, in the post game video he speaks well and is clear and intelligent with his points, could be a future broadcaster if he chose to.
  13. the ability to have different looks and options on the pp setup over a best of 7 is key. Miller is very good at the left side "flank" as juice calls it. Boeser is dangerous when shooting like he can. We've even see Petey ove on the left side on occasion to get things going. Great PP's are fluid and adjust as teams figure them out- we are seeing that now from this group.
  14. especially when you look at the GAA this season over 3 games is 4.00 for BOTH teams.
  15. I believe it was Troy spoofing at how people mispronounce his name, he came up with Tony Stretcher as an example.
  16. I'm thinking the ice will be better tonight, as there were no previous games today and this will favour our team.
  17. Signed long term Motte can be a nice trade asset also. See Barklay Goodrow landing a first round pick at the deadline. I know Motte is not Goodrow but effective young PK experts are valuable to cap wise contenders..... Oh wait, maybe we keep him around.
  18. He rarely gets the opportunity to be the F1 (guy who enters zone first with speed to pressure and put body on defender) In the bottom six. He stays high and is expected to be defensively aware. He needs to be first in with speed to put a body on the dman and we saw that last night when he was playing with better players. ...you give Brock 6 mins a game and see how effective he looks.
  19. Jake needs icetime and gifted offensive players to play with in order to produce and be effective. He obviously ticked off his team and coaches enough to have barely played up until last nights match. I also can't help but wonder if it's an attempt to control his upcoming contract?
