We have a cap, that happens to every team out there and I'm the last few years as you fail to realize in this is covid, where did the cap go? Nowhere.. if it had gone up the projected 5 mil per season, do the math, Toffi and Markstrom would still be here. Tanev and Edler? Maybe, maybe not, both were so banged up and oft injured it wasn't wise to keep them. If it was only that easy not have 15,000,000 in the cap and still sign all our bigger names and stay under.. you know who I mean..

Again... This isn't about having a elite d, you do not need to have that, it just has to be good, the forwards on the other hand have to be elite as in a complete 200ft game, you can have the D in the world but if not supported properly by the forwards, that doesn't win either. We suffer still, especially the D from Greenitus, holding onto the puck too long waiting for a forward to get free for a longer stretch pass was/is killing us death by a 1000 cuts, forwards need to be back and get themselves open and tic tac toe up the ice, quick SIMPLE passes.. Seems to me that, no, Green isn't here anymore except lingering habits which only take time but it's coming along.

Meh.. sort of but not top 4, doesn't have quite that amount of skill BUT a 3rd pairing guy with a lot of upside?! Definitely! Side note : Our D isn't our biggest problem and it needs to be worked on, some players like Boes, needs to go (he's awful on D) live the guy but if he keeps scoring and his value goes up then it's time to sell.. fingers crossed he does, Garland might be a stretch to sell unless he picks up his game drastically, and Pearson is definitely on his way out just not soon enough with his contract clause, Kuz just deemed him top 4 expendable and we have other places for the cap, our biggest question is Bo, but all in all it's not like we don't have some trade bait even if we have to bite a bit of Garlands cap unless he plays lights ou. At any rate, we also need to get bigger and faster, we're the 4th smallest team in the NHL, that won't get us out of the first round if we make it to the post. Playoffs are far to rough, injuries will happen as they always do to every team and what depth do we have?! People need to relax, as much as we all want things to be amped up faster but we still have to keep picking and developing, we can't buy our way in with no depth, how many times have we seen that before?!

Buzz, it's not always that easy, from a fans point of view it is, just do this and just do that is a very fine balancing act to begin with let alone mitigating factors. Such as so do most every other team out there, how does that affect us? First, by small market Canada, secondly our taxes, to start with and then because of other reasons like family elsewhere they want to stay where they are or close, same as with any other team and in the last 10 years starting the D was in better shape after the Boston run with the exception of Hamhuis, injured and never fully recovered I don't think. So the D wasn't so bad back then though as we still had Salo, Tanev, and Edler, so that left one spot open in the top 4 and 3rd pairing is easier to fill but that brought the focus on forwards more with the odd exception. That being said, there were tries that should have worked out but didn't, OJ and sadly LB who could have been patrolling the blue line to this day but no one has a crystal ball to tell what's going to happen. Do I fully disagree with you? Certainly not, in fact I was on about picking pretty much all D from last seasons draft and for another 2 upcoming drafts too so we load up and it's perfect timing, we don't lack scoring, we lack D so maybe JR, who I'm hating on right now for his f'n drama queen ways of handling this team which couldn't barrel out of the gates with a handful of new additions stepping in and having new guys like Podz etc still learning the ropes. And fun fact, this team is nowhere near used to each other yet that's evident on the ice but we had decent flashes of brilliance last night against the leagues top last year and only lost by a goal instead of getting completely blown out. That's what JR's not seeing and I don't know why, there other fans who see it, and know full well we're just "starting" to get wound up and semi sort of used to each other even though the lines have been mixed and matched a lot (searching for matches) that hasn't helped either. And not including the first 10 games where we had a walking wounded D corps on top of that too. Anyway, yes we could use upgrades but they won't do a lot more good then it is now unless the whole team plays a solid 60 mins of a complete 200ft game and not just rest it on the shoulders of the back end including Demko and Martin.

Haven't followed much, been super busy and leaves me with a question, how has Klim been doing?

I get that, I think the older we get the easier it is to get excited about things we wouldn't have got easily in the past. Heck I got excited over a 2003 Ford ranger 4x4 I bought recently, why? Because when it was new it was $32,000 and I drooled over them back in the day when I couldn't afford one, I bought mine 2 years ago I bought it with 137,000 kms, I was giddy!

Gonna refer this roster to ones of old, we have a lot of talent BUT no depth, tell me what year we had a talented roster and a stacked farm team to help get us through a gruelling playoff run? Like N E V E R! Most of the time it couldn't even get us past the first round.. if JR is expecting miracles with no depth to back it up, then he's sleeping on the job because it's up to him to get depth. What he said was bull___t, pass the buck though right?! New players and new systems to them, then try to match the lines to get max out of everyone, play enough together to know, that hasn't happened yet either to get on the same page as last year when we went on 2 long winning streaks and this is a better roster but why give it a chance right? Geez! And that's not including losing half the D to injury when we barely got started.. ffs!! Wtf do people expect? So what if we keep losing a bit as long as we're getting wound up and we do end up in the post season.. We don't have enough depth and as much as that sucks, it's up to JR to get us some, not slam what's not there and be realistic, start picking and developing as we've started to, all JR has to do is keep it going, and just stay the course, fill the farm for once. Depth, just like any other team, without it, we're F'd.

This is not new... Some refuse to critically think for themselves and let other people, fans, media, online media think it for them and don't fact check it, let alone question it but again, it's nothing new. It's been like that since day one of this franchise. (Sadly)!

Well the big picture doesn't lie... Media and wannabees online can say whatever they like and make it sound good but doesn't mean it's true. Our idiot media was all about signing this or that forward when pretty much everyone here on the CDC agreed it was all about D.. and the need for a whole roster bought into 200ft no matter what name the jersey is on. That's what the elite teams have and it certainly doesn't come over night opposed to what some may think Sam.. if it was only that easy right?

That was said with others who were first's who never made it, they can look great and full of promise but there is zero guarantee for anyone. Would it be great if it were? Certainly but that's not realistic.

You'd hope so but most of the goals weren't his fault, too many 3 on 2's by forwards getting caught in deep and not supporting D well enough led to a lot of red lights behind Demko and Martin both but we're getting better about it.. it's just a challenge to overcome with more playing time, that's all. What if Bedard was a bust?! 1st have been busts but when Alf? Have we had any drafting luck? Never! Lol. Even with Bure, the Twins, etc never got us a cup either.. I still say this team needs some time to put it together and tweak it as needed. You don't just develop chemistry in a vacuum, this roster has been a turnstile, how on earth are people expecting miracles and that's not even counting injuries so far.. People need to relax and so does JR.. year of the bubble we weren't that great to start off with either with a much lesser roster back then. When they finally got it together, we went pretty far, now we just need depth, you and I both know this.. Time and depth are everything for us now..

Geez I find it laughable how many people, who by the way were always demanding a one and done cup and screw the farm are bitching about not having a farm. How ironic is that ffs? Too funny! Yeah I'm pretty pissed about it, all that experience can't see through this and the reasons that most of us on the CDC have been talking about for a long time. One being that this team has had a turnstile of new players on the ice EVERY year and even though there has been upgrades, expecting the team to run like a finely tuned engine is so unrealistic it defies logic.. not only have we FINALLY have a set roster, we still don't have depth enough to stand against the leagues elite with injuries let alone mid tier but again THIS year the same old players in and out and developing players in the roster too on ELC's is another thing. So imo, expecting anything to fit for awhile longer is crazy, part of the reason experience makes so much of a difference. I'll make a interesting comparison that some here might remember, team Canada vs the USSR red army team.. All our NHL stars had difficulty against them mostly because our team was thrown together and expected to win it all. It wasn't like the Russians were so much better than us, it was more towards how much time they had playing and training together and it was obvious. However our team was big, tough, and highly skilled then we leaned into them and they actually left the ice refusing to play saying it got too "too rough" ala Phil Esposito to begin with. Had they been thrown together last minute as we had, we would have destroyed them. Point being, we're not that new BUT it's been a turnstile for us, and it's nothing new here. Until we get more time together the better off we'll be and JR coming out and saying that kind of $hit and forget what hockey has been like in Vancouver from day one right up to today?! gimme a break, great way to get rid of a coach and piss off players.. JR.. do us all a favour, start spending every waking working minute you have investing into player drafting and developing or it's going to be the same ole' $hite different year! That kind of talk is not helping ffs!!
