  1. I agree with you IF the player has one of the two major qualities to take a big jump to the AHL. Either great size or high hockey IQ... Hopefully both. Jurmo has questions with his IQ so wouldn't want to overwhelm him with a league he's not ready for. See how this year goes for him and assess for next year. My god he looks huge out there though! So hope he pans out.... Klimovich has both size, leadership and IQ so he's more of a candidate for Abby... Yet he'll probably head the the Q for the season. No need to rush... But sure is nice to know that Abby is there when the player is ready.
  2. I choose both 2022 and 2023 canucks! Back to back Stanley Cups!!
  3. My exact thoughts. Marky will give them a chance to possibly make it in but they have a lot going against them. I think if fLames have a good year with very few if any major injuries they could be fighting for that 8th spot, if so, the Kings and Chicago will be battling them for that spot. It's so satisfying to see Calgary regressing. They'll take years to rebuild. Love it!!!!
  4. Obviously you didn't get the gist of my post. I'm definitely not a journalist therefore not a great writer, so as a result I can see why you may have perceived my post as a only seeing the positives and being a cheerleader. However, my intent is kinda a microcosm of your post. Right away you call the Pettersson pick a lucky one.... So that tells me you're not balanced in your view point either. Benning is a middle of the pack GM overall and deserves some criticism for sure, but it's pure insanity when posters like you call Pettersson a lucky pick, rather than giving credit where credit is due. What's wrong with giving criticism and praise for the same organization? I mean is that like a bad thing? All has to be black and white? As for the 650 vs 1040. It's about the underlying energy that permeates from the station as a whole. Where is Sekeres and Price? Where are most of the 1040 hosts besides Donny and Dhali? They're out of a gig because ultimately they leaned to far to the side of cynicism and that just isn't sustainable for long lasting radio personalities. So agree to disagree.... I'll tell you what though... I'll be having a lot more fun enjoying this awesome team kick some ass team season while you choose to die on your hill screaming "but... But Gudbranson!!!!"
  5. I disagree... Certain hosts weren't moderate or professional in their opinions and it seeped through there commentary. I don't want homers either, but when there's a constant cynical, apathetic undertone relayed hour after hour, day after day, re-enforced by fans that attach to those themes and that energy. No wonder why there has been a reputation that Vancouver has a toxic media and fanbase. There needs to be balance. Since TSN 1040 has been gone, I've noticed a little bit of a reprieve. Like the collective whole has a moment to just look at what's in front if them, rather than a constant barrage or focus on all the negative aspects of the managements moves or lack there of (past, present, and future). What's really sad is, right now, RIGHT NOW, this team is shaping up to be one if the best teams in franchise history and yet many here ignore this and focus (100+ pages) talking about signing Poolman, a player we haven't even seen play in our colors.... This is no coincidence folks... I for one appreciate this reprieve from constant negativity. Taking a deep breath and getting excited to watch what will be a GREAT year from my favorite team. I believe those that miss the tsn 1040 (excluding Donny Taylor) are people that are glass half full or are somewhat cynical by nature. Do I like 650?... No not really. A little to amateurish and vanilla. As a result, I don't listen to it much but if I do, at least it isn't negative. Truth be told, there are other good sources on line that I can get quality canuck news, with a measured enjoyable approach. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to radio... Kinda over having to listen to all the ads. Info can be had just as fast in other mediums.
  6. Abby's going to have a good team this year for sure!
  7. Have you been hiding under a rock.... Or a bridge ... Check out the prospect threads. We may not have the elite prospects that usually come via top 10 picks in our pool.... but we do have 3-4 quality prospects that will make the team (2nd - 4th line forwards and #4-7 defenceman) in the next 2-4 years and more trending in the right direction.
  8. Very good deal for jets... IF it was longer. Copp is betting on himself. And I'd imagine, Copp wants to see where the team is at competitively going forward.
  9. I soooo hope you're right. I hate the fLames more than any other but I don't want to get my hopes up lol! I've been a fLames hater ever since they beat us in 2004.... Yet I was a Iggy and Kipper fan. Now.... It's just not the franchise I despise, I can't stand the core players either... Which makes me sooo happy because they deserve all the hardship coming their way.
  10. He was already producing well in Washington before being traded to Detroit. His first couple seasons, he would produce really well earlier part of season then trail off. Last season he seemed more consistent. I think Detroit's going to surprise this year. Maybe nor a playoff spot but knocking on the door for sure.
  11. Edmonton really needed to upgrade their goaltending. They will be more balanced deeper offensive attack. They will probably be top 3-4 offense in the league but will have to outscore their opponents. Which they probably will most nights. Playoffs though... Defence wins championships, so 2nd round exit. Calgary won't be as bad as many are predicting. I hate that team but with Marky in net and a down year for a lot of the players on that team (just like the nucks) they may surprise especially early in the season but I think they will struggle through rhe second half and either squeak into 8th or just outside. I have LA as the dark horse to overtake Calgary and steal the last playoff spot.
  12. This thread has settled down nicely! Some great insight as to Poolman's strengths and where Benning and co potentially see him fitting. It still seems like a bit of a gamble signing him to 4 yrs but hey... Benning never has been all that conservative in relation to his FA signings.
  13. I've noticed you have a lot of positive feedback for other teams moves and/or signings.... Measured and thoughtful... Shows that you actually have capacity to be reasonable... Looks good on you. Since you're going down a much more positive path, why not stick to it, helps the quality of life for you and your positiveness rubs off on those around you. However, it seems you have a problem staying in this positive mindset when it comes to the canucks. So why not focus on other teams you have interest, in order to maintain this much healthier approach and perspective. Canucks are bad for your health and you end up, negatively effecting others around you. So take the leap and join another teams fan site. I'm excited for you... All the best. Hope this helps
  14. I think they have just enough character players in the most important positions to be competitive and surprise for a part if the season but injuries will most likely hit. They don't have good depth to overcome them. So yah, they probably won't make the playoffs but will be close (end up picking 13-14 in draft next year). Love it!!!!!
  15. So, very much like other threads here, I think we need to temper both our expectations (positive or negative) and see how he does in training camp. Chances are stacked against him making the baby nucks due to the completion level he's been used to. Regardless, what I think we really need to focus on, is the fact that canucks management have direct control over his next move. That's wonderful news and I have no doubt that Klims development is in the best hands possible for his future success as a impact player for the canucks sooner than later.
  16. We're just heading into our competitive window. If we want to extend the time it's open, we'll need to keep at least the first three rounds going forward for more high impact players filtering in when some of our stars peak. I think we have some decent support forwards and defencemen still coming but no big impact players in the pipeline.
  17. Good deal for Tyler. Just two years... Wait and see where there team will be at the end of his contract and go from there.
  18. Obviously this thread no longer has anything to do with Poolman. Eriksson, Virtanen, and to a lesser degree, Beagle, and Rousell are gone. Opening up a huge void for a place for focused spewing of dog doo doo. The chronic negative Nancy's have to have at least one place to unload their vitriol. So.... I guess, I'll just be avoiding this thread until regular season starts. I'm really hoping this guy can perform like a good #4 or #5 d.. 2.5 mill ain't to bad if he fits into ine of those slots.
  19. Podz will be pretty tough for us too. Would LOVE to see him take on Tkachunk! Please please please! Unfortunately you forgot to add Zadorov for the fLames
  20. Of course we haven't seen the 21-22 team perform as if yet but on paper it looks close but would say that the 21-22 team is deeper on paper.
  21. This is great to see! Really, really happy for him! He had to deal with a lot over the past 4 yrs. Hope he has a productive year. Good luck Sven!
