  1. There's a really good chance that Calgary, L.A., and Winnipeg lose tonight.... But as long as Calgary loses, I'll be happy... The rest will be icing on the cake!
  2. Again, awesome insight thanks! Cool, so I'm assuming he plays mostly on the 2nd line based on 16+ min per game? Playing on one If the top teams in shl, as an integral piece to his team's success this year. Sounds like he has the potential qualities to be a top six player in Abby. With continued to development (working with our skating coaches), a quality depth player with enough skill to play 2nd pp if needed for the big team in a couple years. Hopefully they decide to sign him in the off season as you mentioned. Might have us forget about Dahlen all together.
  3. +1. That's a pretty great synopsis of his play. Much appreciated! Do you think, if he continues to improve, he may be ready for the jump to Abby next season? Or safe to say another year in shl? This was his first full time season in shl correct?
  4. Really glad to hear your friends and loved ones are doing okay all things considered. Well, there's the theory that Omnicom is going to get to everyone eventually and have us all with antibodies. Finally allow our bodies immunity to have what it needs to fight covid 19 going forward... Which sounds hopeful for the first time in two years.
  5. Are any hospitalized? Or milder conditions?
  6. The ask right now is to the moon... Are you willing to give say a Podz, Rathbone and a (unprotected)1st for him? Or Höglander, Rathbone a (unprotected) 1st & 3rd? I think this is bare minimum... They're probably wanting even more of either picks or prospects. Not worth this much to me... I think JR would agree... Especially when saying he wants to keep and aquire picks not trade early rounds away.
  7. How did Linus's thread get turned into Gillis vs. Benning? Curious because I'd expect this discussion to be more in the vicinity of the JR hiring thread. Anyway... Don't you folks think that Karlsson deserves (because of his excellent play this season) to be talked about more in his own thread? Did he play again tonight? Is he just playing wing this year? What line is he on? Does he pk? Pp #1? Does he hit, scrap? Is his skating NHL caliber? More of a pp guy or 200 ft player?... Etc
  8. That's right Alf... It wasn't done before in order to reinforce the narrative. More info like this will be made available over the next couple years. I don't think most of us will be happy with what will be brought to our attention. It's confusing and misleading.
  9. Poor goaltending will do that. Look at Calgary this year... It's no coincidence with Marky that they are doing so well. We as canucks fans have been spoiled for a decade and half now, with elite to franchise goaltending. Most of us forget or weren't around in the goalie graveyard days. I believe thats a big reason JR took the job. He saw Demko and Hughes and said sign me up! After 12yrs on CDC I finally make 1000 post lol!
  10. You're a joke... Never mind... Nothing to see here.
  11. How do you know they're not vaccinated?
  12. Very kind words big bad... Thank you. Happy New Year to you and your family as well.
  13. Lol! All good Rocks! I'm sure you're on a cocktail of painkillers right now!... I'm recovering from acl surgery and I've been forgetful and a bit loopy the past week and a half.... So I couldn't imagine what your brain is going through... Let alone your body!! Nice to know you're in good spirits in this tough time for yah. All the best man! Here's to a better year!
  14. I'm sure you meant Demko... But Schneider was great too... But even in his prime (playing behind a superior team in all facets) wasn't better than Demko has shown this year... And he's just getting started!!!
  15. Dayham! You bail fast! I'll remember your comment when he turns it around.
  16. I met Demko summer prospects camp in Shawnigan Lake. I went there to watch our new 5th oa pick in Juolevi! I was stoked to meet him. I got a chance to but Juolevi seemed timid an standoffish, so I just bobbed my head in respect and moved on. There were two other interactions with players that left a much more positive impression on me. 1) that's the year Stecher had signed as a fa... I watched him pass me 4-5 times. He was super focused with a snarl on his face... Super determined. I could see right there (even though he was so small) that he would be a NHL player for years to come. 2) After their practice, Boeser and Demko came out to sign autographs, I was just standing around when a young fan asked Demko for an autograph but didn't have a pen. Thatcher looked my way, and I offered my pen... I'm feeling a little sheepish... Like a little kid, even though I'm twice these guys ages. Anyway, Demko says thanks, takes my pen and signs the young fans hat. He motions to offer my pen back, but asks if I would like an autograph. Again I'm feeling silly... All I have is the paper with the skaters that would be on the ice that day. I said sure. Thatcher looked directly at me, smiled and said he appreciate the use of my pen. I laughed and said... "You mean my high end 'bick' pen... Yah no problem!" He laughed out loud and said here you go. I said thanks man... And all of a sudden blurted out "I am really excited to see you in a Nucks jersey... You're going to be an very important part of this new core, you'll be elite I can just tell..." He looked at me, with a quiet, stoic confidence look, smiled and said I appreciate that, thank you. Long winded story I know... But after having some time to process those interactions with these young men. Demko left the strongest impression on me. I was so impressed by his energy... level, humble but confident, warm, inclusive. At his age then (20 yrs old) I was just so impressed by his maturity and well rounded personality. I later friended him on Twitter, dropping him a line of encouragement from time to time. Received some likes from both his dad and mom. Kid was raised really well for sure. He and Podz are my favorite players on this team... When all is said and done, I believe he'll go down as the greatest canucks goaltender in franchise history.
  17. 4-1 van. Podkolzin 2 goals, Petey 1g and 2 apples.
  18. Hope I'm wrong but I think L.A. will bring their best game tonight (when they're playing their best, they can compete with any team). Van will come out strong but Quick will be up to the task and hold them in it until they get their legs in the second. Another tight one goal game. 4-3 L.A.
