  1. Happy New Year!! Let's hope 2022 will be way better than 2021.
  2. I was kinda anti-leggings at first, but now I'm all about them. My office is pretty casual so I even wear them to work sometimes. I've been meaning to wear my jeans more often, too, but the more comfortable clothes keep calling to me.
  3. A couple months ago, I put on a pair of jeans for the first time in almost 2 years. Luckily they still fit! LOL But I haven't worn another pair since.
  4. I think it's a good tool. Chances are, you'll have to meet a lot of people before you find one that has potential. But don't get bummed out - each date is part of the experience and, even if it was really bad, it'll be a funny story/memory.
  5. While I don't necessarily agree with "cancel culture", I do think that we need to educate. For a long time, Asians have kept quiet; not wanting to stir the pot. But being too passive have allowed us to be pushed around. People think it's okay to perpetuate ioffensive stereotypes against Asians because they know we'll just keep quiet and not fight back. I'm not saying to "cancel" everyone who makes an Asian joke, but we need to call out harmful, racist behaviour. Asking me where I'm from is okay. Following up with "but where are you really from?" is not. Telling me to "go back to <insert Asian country>" is racist.
  6. Really depends on what you want to have. One of my fave spots for waffles/waffle bennies is Le Petit Belge. Best chicken and waffles imo is Off the Grid. Also enjoyed Jam Cafe, Cafe Zen, Catch 122, Chickpea...
  7. What teams are doing for staff during this time: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1964674
  8. LOL no worries! It's funny you say that because I've actually come to know the Comox Valley (Courtenay mainly) area a little bit over the last couple years, and I have heard people saying that there's been an influx of people from other places over the last few years. But in my experience (although limited), people have been nothing but welcoming to me. I've actually been toying with the idea of moving there lately. As for making friends, I think it's like that everywhere. It gets harder and harder to make friends as we age and especially so when you move somewhere where you don't know anyone. And I hear ya on the kids thing. I don't have kids nor want to, but a lot of my friends are parents. Seems like the only parties I go to now are kids' birthday parties LOL
  9. I remember browsing that forum but never posted.
  10. On one hand, I love Vancouver and never want to leave. On the other hand, I want to just pack up and move right now.
  11. I get that. I worry about the "what ifs", too. Sometimes, I wish I worried less lol
  12. Might be seeing you on Dragon's Den one day lol
  13. Changed mine just once since joining in '03.
  14. My ex had adult braces and I remember him saying that the Waterpik really helped him. Maybe something you might want to look into if you haven't already.
  15. I'm not really sure. I've never seen anyone do that before nor since (and never want to again) lol
  16. Ugh, that's not just annoying; that's dangerous! I have a few elevator stories. Mostly involves people who get to the top/bottom and just stop or move super slow (staring at their phones) so that they're in the way of everyone else behind them. One time, I was walking up the escalator behind this guy with a giant backpack on. I made sure to leave a bit of room between us so that I wouldn't get hit by his bag if he decides to stop/move when he got to the top. But he did something much worse: he started to walk backwards down the escalator when we were already halfway up! Luckily, there was a bit of room for me to slide to the right and out of his way right before he ( and his giant backpack) would've hit me and possibly sent me tumbling down the escalator.
  17. Just had another incident this morning where I had to push past this guy (and his gf) who thought it was a good idea to stop right at the top of the escalator. And of course they were both wearing giant backpacks.
  18. Yeah, I'm trying to find a job that I enjoy. I did like what I was doing for the first few years but started hating it more with each promotion lol
  19. Yep, my mind knows that. It's just my damn conscience. I just feel bad for leaving my team at the busiest time of the year. Hmmm might be a good idea considering our CEO and VPs are at our company Christmas parties.
  20. I'm not sure if I hate my profession or just my job. I want to leave, but I feel bad for leaving my team this close to Christmas. I don't have any interviews lined up (yet?) but I'm afraid that I'll feel too guilty to leave even if I got an offer elsewhere. People keep telling me (and I agree) that I don't owe them anything but as much as I dislike my company, I just don't want to leave my team during the busiest time of the year. But if I stay, I'll be miserable.
  21. And people in public who turn their phones to max volume to watch YT or Facetime. Also, this construction that's going on outside my office is giving me a headache.
  22. People who "correct" you with the wrong info or just an alternative way of saying/doing something.
