  1. Depends what you think of J. Barron I guess. I think he would have been a great pick up so good job by Mtl.
  2. Some pretty strong returns early on, Canucks waited too long in my view (that is, if they were even serious about moving a Boeser/Garland/etc). At the end of the day, the summer/draft was always going to be the moment of truth given the status/structure of player contracts.
  3. Generally speaking, Mgmt waited too long to move one of Boeser/Myers/etc. Will be interesting to see how the players react to this...does it encourage them now that they know they are staying put? Hope Mgmt has a plan in place for the summer/draft.
  4. All comes down to what they think Brock will sign for - if $7.5M QO happens then yes I would take Barron (who I expect to be a strong player), a pick, and cap space.
  5. Seems like lesser players will end up getting sellers the better "value" this TDL - players like Motte, Boeser, Horvat, might actually get more during the TDL than Miller (relative to skill, value, etc.). Trade two/three of Motte/Boeser/Horvat/Myers at the deadline and Miller plus one of those four at the draft (unless a five year extension can get done for Miller). That could set the team up for the next four years (of Demko). I like Horvat but he doesn't have the drive to push this team over the top (too many excuses for why this team continues to make the same mistakes over and over again).
  6. I belive I heard the Bruins' broadcasters say that Bruins want a 1st, player and prospect for him...yikes. They are homers but that is the current ask from their point of view.
  7. Time to move on from Lafreniere and Schnieder in order to take two shots at the Cup before their cap goes to sh*t...is what I hope the Rags head office is saying.
  8. Crazy that the comment was maybe Rangers say no - must be an Eastern Exec who doesn't watch any Western games.
  9. 100% agree - go for quality, not quantity. If it isn't there then hold him for the draft. Always the chance that there is a top 10 team hoping to make a jump next season. Could just be smoke but Schneider may have entered untouchable territory. Best option is likely to hold Miller until the summer (or sign to a reasonable deal) unless quality is added to the offers. https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/new-york-rangers-price-to-trade-for-canucks-j-t-miller-went-up/
  10. Ya, you might be right. If that is the case, I would not do that deal. Better to wait for the draft/summer (more clarity on draft picks available and more teams with flexibility). Mgmt should pick three players (as close to blue chip, can't miss prospects as they can id) and target them. Don't take anything less. The remainder of the assets recovered in the trade can be 1st and 2nd round draft picks.
  11. Green's systems always seemed to be half in and half out e.g. they would send one forechecker in and the rest would sit back. It was a very easy system to beat and likely put the team on their heels. Now with two forecheckers and the five man unit all playing up, it isn't as easy to beat. There will be breakdowns in any system but the team appears to be skating downhill now. Let's hope it continues.
  12. Marchand just can't help himself. Guy gets away with murder every night.
  13. Agreed re: core, can't trade everyone though and need some role players. I think the guys left in could provide good stability, provided the team can acquie some additional "core" impact players.
  14. Unfortunately that seems the be the only route in my view now, no? Trade the "older" players to shore up the future - need two top four D, a first/second line center, and players with speed/size that can play up and down the line up. Wait until the trade deadline or the offseason when returns are better but look to move Bo, Miller, Boeser, Pearson, Myers, etc. Myers/Pearson aren't the most desirable pieces but I could some teams interested for the playoffs if salary is retained. I would be comfortable "rebuilding" with the following group (need some leaders and more gamers that don't accept losing): Garland EP Podz xx xx Hogs xx JD xx Motte xx xx QH Hammer OEL xx xx Poolman Demko
  15. Wait for trade deadline when the returns increase...trading for future RFA does nothing for this team tomorrow or next year.
  16. So... Miller EP Boeser Hogs Bo Garland Pearson JD Podz Motte 4C 4RW Hughes Hammer OEL Myers Rathbone Schenn Juolevi Demko Holtby? So if they trade Schmidt that would give them more than enough to fill out the D and sign their RFAs. If they decide to trade or buyout Holtby, have to think the are going after a UFA no?
  17. Garland is a great pickup. Canucks now have a legit top six in Miller, EP, Boeser, Garland, Bo, and Hogs. I assume Hogs can also play LW?Third line is now legit in Pearson, JD, and Podz.Still need to work on the fourth line but given the lack of CAP JB should stay within the lines finally hahaThe forward group was poor last year and that hurt the team defence. With a better forward group and Demko in his second full season, I expect a better overall system (Shaw), which should help the defense.Defense is now OEL, Hughes, Rathbone, Schmidt, Juolevi, and Myers. They still need add another piece. I think the should keep Schmidt...tell him to suck it up and that he only gets traded when his value improves haha OEL is a risk but hopefully he regains his love for the game over the next two years
