  1. I never heard of a GM that doesn't rely on the scouts recommendations The GM will ask who is the BPA now and upside Every good GM i've heard drafting never takes the credit and says it is the scouts day and almost all the good GM go on record as saying in the 1st round you always pick the BPA
  2. Generous Rush 17,as he was the General Manager for the Canucks and not the scout that some think (every good GM has said that it is the scout's time to shine) I never judge a GM on his drafting alone (As it will take a GM a few years to see how well his scouting team is at doing THEIR job) He Managed to have me on the edge of giving up on the Canucks for good(Like several of my longtime season ticket holders have) and they won't even watch for free on the TV anymore and are done (The inconsistency of refs and suspension calls add to it) He was horrible at managing and wouldn't even talk to his staff said Smyl and other's
  3. I guess worse for disparity between 2 teams in a SC final I remember the 82 series as we picked up a pet at SPCA and as we were driving home I was thinking of a name, and kept hearing Curt Fraser name on the radio as we were following the Fraser River in the Fraser Valley and the pet had a new name
  4. I thought that too when we made the horrible OEL trade and the ones before, but now in this timeline with our stars coming of age where they can walk for nothing (like others have), now we need to start seeing what this core can do and i like the Hronek move (especially while we are handcuffed) The whole building of this team was wasted and for not taking advantage of young stars in EP and Hughes on ELC. and had Benning not been let go when he was, I probably might not even be a fan now (Like lots of my friends who gave up and won't come back now) It may be too late with the building of this core to help them be on the best team they could have been , but i am now willing to see if we can salvage it and with the contracts we have still holding us back, and ones still needing to be signed, it will be very difficult, but now once again I am interested in the team
  5. Why though? What strength of managing does he have? He let top scouts and shrunk management team to have absolute power Remaining management said he never communicated with them Why would Dubas even want for history to repeat itself, with a POH hiring him as a GM, only to tell the owner he could build a winner in 2 years I guess you're right in saying possible, but I think it's more improbable
  6. Looks like I have more sway with Dubas and he took my advice instead of yours Alf
  7. Dubas wanted more say in TO. I wouldn't be surprised to see him do both jobs until he found a GM that was a yes man to what he wanted
  8. According to Craig Patrick, the former Penguins general manager who drafted Jagr, the Czech winger did his best to manipulate the draft so that he could end up in Pittsburgh playing alongside Mario Lemieux. " "I found out years later that when he was interviewed by teams ahead of us, he told them all that he wasn't coming over [to the NHL] right away," Patrick recently told reporters at a Penguins alumni golf outing. "When we asked him that question, he said 'I'll be there tomorrow if you draft me. Jagr was reportedly willing to make more of a commitment to the Penguins than the four teams that picked before them -- the Nordiques, Canucks, Red Wings and Flyers -- because he "idolized" Lemieux. (and probably why we went Nedved) Bedard isn't going to risk getting hurt and not being a instant millionaire, besides he just wants to play
  9. If Stars were leading the series 2-1 he would probably get 2 games Seeing as Stars look done he will probably get 4 to make it look like they are policing (after failed Pietrangelo call)
  10. Why is that though? Why couldn't we have had both? Even with Miller, EP, and Hughes we have been at the bottom of the standings Plus in a lottery system we could still get EP and Hughes had we took Tkachuk I thought for sure we were taking him, but no matter how much we may want that now, won't change it and looking forward to better days
  11. Would there even be 5 people in the front row at that presentation though?
  12. For such a jighly touted pick before the draft Would the Canucks ever inquire about him? I wonder if the Canucks would even be interested in him? Isn't his skating an issue? Where would he slot in ?
  13. Exactly, besides having no fans, even the city doesn't want you there It's like a pathetic breakup, Let her go NHL, something better will come along that actually wants you and is better for you
  14. Highly doubtful any of us here survive to see who would be correct
  15. I think that no way Arizona would be interested in giving up a leader and hard worker for Brock He also just signed a five-year deal this past offseason, cementing his long-term status as a leader on the Coyotes. "He's a huge leader on our team, there's no doubt about it," head coach André Tourigny said. "Everybody respects Crouser. for him, consistency is probably the best word in the sense of his preparation, the way he shows up every day, the way he prepares himself, and the way he works every day." He tries to lead by example with his routines, both on and off the ice.(That is important to a young team as Arizona and not what BB gives) "I'm not afraid to speak up if I need to, but I try and lead with my daily habits, and just the way that I play, and the way that I approach things," Crouse said. "If I can help some of the young guys grow as people and as players, that's huge, and that's the ultimate goal." The persistence, and his approach, have paid off. The list of intangibles Crouse brings to the Coyotes is a long one. "He's a really good veteran," Tourigny said. "He's a structure guy. He plays really well defensively, and he plays really well in the structure. He has intensity, he has focus, he has purpose, he has toughness, and he has physicality. he brings a lot to the table." (no way they want BB over that, RT would love this guy, and no way Tourigny encourages that trade, Crouse sounds like a coach's dream) Crouse said he is always looking to help make his teammates successful, too. "I've been saying since the start of training camp, I want to continue to help my other wingers achieve more offense," he said. "Finding those loose pucks and getting them over to teammates. Hopefully they can put some in the back of the net." Who wouldn't want that attitude on the Canucks? It would be a Canucks steal and cheaper too if they could swap But IMO they never even entertain the idea
  16. How do you determine all falls as dives? Try walking slow and have someone give you a lil push, it is very easy to recover Now run as fast as you can and have that same push, not so easy at that speed to stay upright I agree we don't want the NHL to become the European Football (soccer) That is so pathetic to watch a guy acting like a bear just mauled him and then get up and run full tilt and yet they don't have a player sit for embellishment and poor sportsmanship
  17. Elias, I don't buy it is a strategy to draw penalties, i think he just uses his speed and his quick thinking to his advantage and he wants to get by to score not draw a penalty (that is the end result and why his peers say he is the best) If you own and race a Porsche while everyone else are racing VW Bug's, you don't drive your Porsche like a Beetle How old was Ovi before he won his 1st cup 33? For some to say he couldn't hold Crosby's jockstrap is far fetched Ovi will go down as one of the greatest players and McD still has 7 yrs to win his 1st cup like Ovi along with Drai Putting them down when they got their teams into the playoffs, would be like putting EP and JT down for not even getting us there I get the dislike of the Oilers, but within reason
  18. I'd' rather eat steak than worms True on cap, but spending to top of cap while keeping a team at the bottom of the standings was horrible construction Had he been patient and not always been like a fat kid in a candy store spending all his money on overpaid players that sat on the bench, played in the minors or paid to play for other teams, we could be a top team now and should be, for being at the bottom of the league standings for a decade
  19. Not sure why you want to compare ? Are you defending him? (this wasn't a comparison remark) One almost brought as a Cup to one that kept us at bottom for over a decade+? Until a GM brings a cup
