7 years at $8 million, I honestly don't think we could have gotten a better deal then that, Good job, by PA and Miller as well.

In a perfect world it would be nice to keep Miller on the team, but the reality is if we do we put this team into an even bigger Cap problem and will then have to lose other assets putting the team in a worse position then it is now. If I'm PA, I write this year off in a sense as a developmental year as we are most likely a wildcard team with or without Miller. Retain 50% on Miller if it gets us a better return. Work on getting Bo signed ASAP and Kuz in January if he is showing good. Then with the extra cap we have next summer and the assets we have from the Miller trade we can make a real push to fix the D and see what happens.

The problem IMO is unless he has an absolute disaster of a season, which is no good for anyone, I don't think you can get the number under 8 and it might be 9 he's looking for.

So if plan A doesn't work and like you I don't think it does, then plan B is the plan you would think we have to go with. So we trade Miller, the question is for what? I think personally we get more value in a Miller trade going for futures, what ever that might look like in picks or prospects vs looking for roster players as we diminish Millers value to a team looking to go all in for the Cup by taking roster players off there team.

If I was PA I'd be doing my best to get Bo signed so they know how much cap space they have to work with next year. We have 3 players needing raises next year in Bo, JT and Kuz. If we get Bo done we will have a better view of the picture. We should have roughly 5 million extra cap space with Halaks bonuses and our buyouts off the books. We don't need Dickinson if we can sign Miller, would a 3rd be enough to offload him? That would potentially give us another 1.5-2 million if we replace him with someone cheap. Can we sign Bo, JT and Kuz with 6 to 6.5 million? If so I say we do that, our forwards are as deep as I can remember them being and our goalie is top notch, is our defense weak probably, but is that because of the players or the system they've been playing or both and can our improved offense make up for any of that? If the answer is no that's not enough to re-sign those guys then I say we trade Miller for either a young defenseman that can help the team or for futures and try to sign someone with the cap we gain, but if we go this route we need to trade Miller quick before there is no one left to sign.

There is literally 0% chance Colorado does this deal.

Well if we traded him away it wouldn't bother me at all. If for some reason he goes to UFA on our team I wouldn't be happy. But more so at our management not so much at JT himself.

I'm really hoping we can keep both these guys personally.

One thing I like about Ilya is the speed it's been far to long since we've had a fast Russian on this team.

Why can't we like Garland and Mikheyev? Ideally we move on from Dickison and trade Miller for help on D and we are pretty rocking IMO with a real nice top 9.

This is what worries me too, if they don't get a trade done in the offseason, I feel like they will just run the clock. Patience is a virtue too much patience is a procrastinator and we all know how that goes.

I think maybe JR will have to get creative and do a 3 way deal or something. I'm not a very good armchair GM but lets say Miller to the Ranger for Lundquist (is that the young defenseman?) then Rangers trade some picks to Arizona and we get Keller. I don't know what the details would be but that seems like it could work.

3 when the deal starts and that's a huge difference to me. 8.5 for miller on a 5 year deal would be ok though.

Could be, I'm not upset, mildly disappointed is where I sit atm, would have been nice to see something exciting happen yesterday, but I am far from panicked or upset. I will be pretty upset if in the end MIller walks as a UFA but I'll get over that. I've got 40 years of disappointment behind me being a fan of this team, I'm ready to take another 40 if need be.

Well like everyone here, I don't know anything for sure, I can only form an opinion from what I've heard. Is it possible that what I've heard is false absolutely. But if we are only going to talk about things that we have 100% confirmation on. We can only talk about things that have already happened. The response you've made is one I've seen repeatedly on this bored as some kind of aha moment, I've got you here. But it's a weak lazy response, we can all just assume that none of us know anything for sure, but we are hear to talk about things with people with similar interests and giving our opinions, which at the end of the day mean nothing to no one that can actually do anything meaningful with the team.
