King Heffy
Yea, fair enough, that's why it's 5 games. That's pretty lengthy for Chicago, he's a former Norris Trophy Winner.

Primal Optimist
I can understand why only 5 games in light of doans 3 games for a less blatant attack and with doan being a repeat offender. However, I believe that both are under-penalized. I think the league should have set an example with Keith because it is so blatant, and so close to the playoffs, at least one playoff game and the rest of the reg season would have been better, I had hoped for 3 playoff games. awalk
Hawks are 7-8 points up on the bubble teams, with only about the same number of games left. There's no way that they'll miss the playoffs. However, they just may fall back enough to stay in the coveted 6th seed, and avoid having to go through Nashville or Detroit in the 1st round. ...the gift that keeps on giving! Brad Marchand
Acceptable, but hardly message-sending. If you asked Keith whether he would make this hit again knowing that he would only get suspended 5 games, he would probably say yes.
Rink on Renfrew
I love how Shanny spends as much time on the puck taking a strange bounce as he does on the direct contact to the head. Stupid puck, give it 5 games. I love hockey but I hate this league! Absolutely brutal explanation, closing the gap, ya that's what Keith does on a regular basis, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that this was indisputably a preditory hit on an unsuspecting player. Believe-in-blue23
5 games. Meh, should've been more but better than nothing I guess.

Ṣpiderman
Why should it matter what team he plays for or what his previous accomplishments were? Danny is an Art Ross trophy winner, so what?!!! What the league is going ot end up with is a death! It is obvious they have no intention of protecting players in any meaningful way so it is now open season on the talent of the league. Best way to win in the NHL is to obliterate your opponent! WHen Crosby gets nailed in the head first round of the playoffs and his career is ended, the NHL and fans need look no further to Shanahan and this kind of ridiculous and totally useless effort. What a f'ing joke!
cementfooter
I wish the league would move towards automatic, minimum suspensions already. Repeat offenders should have punishment calculated based on a formula instead of some wishy-washy subjective interpretation. I just find the current system really all over the place. Management should also be penalized more, perhaps with automatic fines, or reduced salary caps.

Steve Carell
I was just looking at the Chicago message boards. A lot of the people there are saying stuff like 'totally worth it' ... f***ing classless.
Bertuzzi Babe
You know this one is probably not even a Hawks fan, smells like an Alberta fan trolling. Theyre obsess with being 'classy' over there.

Edler's Mind Tricks
Don't understand the hate for Shanny... What was he supposed to do? 5 was the general consensus I heard from non Canuck or Hawk fans. His video explanations are 100x better and more transparent the Colin's mystery wheel of justice. Just clarification... So can a player opt for a phone hearing? And only receive 5 games? Did Keith do that? If so, Shanny couldn't do any more. We should be raging at Keith instead! snolan
Ridiculous...... who cares, no effect at all to Keith and a possible career changer to Sedin. Sets a precedent to just go out there and hit someone in the elbow away from the play and receive 5 games of no consequence??? Real good job protecting your stars. The problem is dirty plays are now allowed in hockey because there is no real retribution for it. The league is toothless, the refs stink and you will continue to see hits like this for a long time. I just hope the Vancouver organization wakes the F up and stops playing fair sooner then later.
