Snake Doctor
It's time to let Webber walk and take the picks.
D-Money
The possible lockout (however unlikely it may be) weighs in on this. Can Nashville really commit to dropping around 24 million in signing bonuses (now, and next July 1st), without a guarantee of even one game of revenue in between? I just don't see Nashville being able to match this. It could potentially bankrupt the franchise.
D-Money
Just had a scary thought...what if Pronger recovers? Pronger - Weber?!?!?
aGENT
The real question is: With Weber off the table, who is next up on the CDC mass stupidity hit parade of elite players we can get for our spare parts and a draft pick?
Tystick
Man if Nashville matches, the fans are going to hate him. This was a pretty dumb move on Webers part.

bd71
The original poster's question was could the trade Weber to another team with more money who could then match the Flyers offer.
Strombone1
Brad Ziemer @BradZiemer The #Canucks seriously discussed presenting an offer sheet to Weber, but determined there was no way to land player: that Preds would match.
JLumme
Poile will match. They'll take a 4 year loan and match. No issues there. Interest rate are dirt cheap. If they don't match, they will take a bigger financial hit from the loss of season ticket holders, no playoff revenue ( unlikely making the playoffs without Weber ), corporate sponsorship. I just don't see how he doesn't match. The big hurdle is the first 4 years, and that can be solved by taking a loan. After that, it is smooth sailing. grandmaster
He needs to let Weber go. Ellis is emerging, so is blum and others, and honestly, Poile would handicapp that franchise for years by signing that deal. He gets FOUR first round picks out of this. If he drafts right, he could pick some studs up in the coming years. Don't forget, thats also a ton of trade value right there he could package for someone or a higher pick. Ex: three 1st rounds for 1st overall next year?

Jester@wraiths.ca
How is Polie going to 'take out a loan' for Weber? The organization is already losing money every year AND receiving subsidies from taxpayers.
xWCMx
Did anyone see Murph's tweet from just now? Said the Canucks seriously thought about an offer sheet to Weber, then decided it was useless b/c they knew Nash. would match. At least we tried! RonnieColeman
Well there's no way we would've forked up 110 mill 14 years, anything we would've offered would've easily been matched by Nashville in a split second, only reason they haven't done so for the philly offer sheet is cause its freaking ridiculous
MistuhMan
If we had offer-sheeted Weber, it doesn't mean that he'll sign. Plus, we'd lose a bunch of core players due to cap restraints.
suolucidir
We didn't hate Kesler for accepting an offer sheet from Flyers few years ago. It's business. BTW, Nashville cannot trade Weber right now. Its either Nashville or Philly.
Vlas=d
I have a feel that Holmgren told Weber that Poile was shopping him around to get under his skin and bit and make him more willingly to sign.
