underrated
To Florida: Kesler (5m), Luongo (5.3) To Vancouver: Campbell (7.1m), Huberdeau (ELC), Theodore (1.5m), 1st round pick As the Canucks are pushing for the Cup now, this deal changes the fact of the franchise and may be too great of a risk. However, I believe this deal makes sense for both teams and here is why: Florida: Clearly Luongo wants to go back to Florida and Luongo returns to a place he was a star, but this time motivated to be part of the team. He gives them a franchise netminder for many years to come. People say his contract is huge but 5.33 cap hit is a bargain compared to other contracts these days. Kesler is exactly the type of player that GM Dale Tallon loves. He also assembled a team that he believes is a step or two away from really competing. These two veteran players give them those pieces that they so desperately need. They take on two big contracts but also lose a big one in Campbell. Canucks: Clearly, losing Luongo makes sense with Schneider in net. Losing Kesler however hurts a lot more. I understand if people start destroying this proposal because Kesler is involved. HOWEVER, Huberdeau has an even higher ceiling than Kesler and is ten years younger. He is the future face of the franchise. He also slots into Kesler's #2 center role this season, and can learn from the likes of Malhotra and Henrik. Kesler and Booth seem too similar style of players to play together and Huberdeau is more of a playmaker. Campbell was absolutely a stud paired with new Canuck Jason Garrison last year. This trade makes our defense rock solid and extremely deep. The two playing together helps ease the transition for the two players. Campbell has a huge contract, which we take because we get rid of Luongo's, but is still a great veteran player on our blueline. Theodore then takes part of the workload so that Schneider doesn't have to jump into playing 65-70 games next year. Canucks then ideally sign Doan and trade Ballard. If Visnovsky wins his battle, then the Islanders may be interested in Ballard. Florida Fleischmann - Kesler - Versteeg Kopecky - Weiss - Upshall Bergenheim - Goc - Mueller Smithson - Matthias - Parros/Skille Jovo - Kuba Weaver - Gudbranson Ellerby - Kulikov Luongo Clemmenson Vancouver Sedin - Sedin - Burrows Booth - Huberdeau - Higgins (hopefully Doan) Raymond/Kassian - Lapierre - Hansen Ebbett - Malhotra - Volpatti Bieksa - Hamhuis Garrison - Campbell Edler - Tanev/Alberts Schneider Theodore

Tystick
We don't need Campbell, and Kesler is our future. I think we can get Huberdeau for Luongo in some sort of deal eventually.
cs2016
If we want to win now why do we trade Kesler? Huberdeau has great upside but he still needs more time to develop before he is on par with Kesler and that's not what we need right now.

stexx
Hahahaha. Not a chance. We couldn't even get Gudbranson, Huberdeau is completely untouchable. When will people stop thinking we can get these guys? For Luongo? Nope.

ButterBean
Is Huberdeau even ready to put up Kesler numbers? And why on earth do we take Campbell's terrible cap-hit and stick Edler on the 3rd pairing? There's only so many minutes we can hand around you know. canucks_dynasty
I think Kesler's NTC kicked in July 1st so he will dictate where he goes.
