Columbus is in an interesting position. They have great forward depth but no 1st line players. Not a single one. They have at least 3 guys that need to be traded to aquire either good picks or a couple top line guys like jumbo joe thorton, iginla, morrow, gagne, gionta...

They have prospects that could some day play a 1st line role but even there they dont have anyone who stands out as an elite future forward.

If they could find a way to pick up two 1st liners they could have amazing 2nd and third lines.

A second line of Dubinsky, brassard atkinson would be great

a third line of foligno, ansimov, umberger would kill

mackenzie dorsette and anyone else would be a great 4th line.

the problem is they want to use these players in roles they cant excel in.

I'd move prospal, boll, gillies.

Johansen and atkinson could maybe be part of a first line in a couple of years but again id pick up some older guys to fill that role until they are ready and hold on to the 2nd and third liners i have now.

The jackets did do something huge this offseason whe they chose oskar dansk in the 2nd round. Everyone has a hard-on for subban and the russian but dansk probably has more upside than any of the goalies in the draft. If they develop him right they will have an elite starting tender in 4ish years.

Anyways no they will not make the playoffs. No team and succeed when their players are being put into roles they are no suited for or not ready for. Unless you are the coyotees and the nhl really wants to make sure they dont have to be relocated.

Everybody underrates them.

Quote me on it. The CBJ will make the playoffs in 2012-2013.
