FireGillis
I want to get send a friend in the states smoked salmon as a gift, but I forget what brand and from where do tourists normally get it? The one I'm thinking about has native art on it and doesn't come in box, but I heard there are boxed kinds as well. Anyone know what is the common one tourists buy? NightHawkSniper
There's always another BC product you can send them.
G-52
Why buy them the same crap tourists buy? Get good quality local stuff.
Joel Heyman
Go to quality foods and whatever they have there should be sufficient, I don't like it all that much though, seeing as I was raised off of smoked food fish from my Auntie's smoke house (eating Ahptsquee or Indian Candy home made should be on everyone's bucket list). Captain Aerosex
Brand smoked salmon? What's the point then? I take it you don't know anybody who smokes their own salmon, so my advice would just be to check markets or butchers, maybe reserves.

Hobbes!!!
Can't remember the brand but I recall seeing them at Superstore! In wooden boxes with Native art.
Psylocke
Not really a fan of smoked salmon but tried some that was pretty good from a place on Granville Island that smoke their own. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name or where on GI 'cause it was a few years ago.

avelanch
It's just a sweeter smoked salmon. Personally I would just prefer more smoke on my salmon.
JoeyJoeJoeJr. Shabadoo
sounds like a nice change of pace to me, can't hurt to try. I just caught my first king yesterday, so one of the portions will become "indian candy", and I'll go from there.

Shift-4
That's right! But kinda hard to ship the homegrown smoked kind over the border........ voice of experience talking. My brother had to come back home to BC from NY to enjoy the good ol' smoked Moricetown goodies!

FireGillis
Thanks for the responses everyone. Heh, I didn't realize smoked salmon was such serious business. I don't need stuff fit for kings. Anyways, I'll check out superstore and I was looking at this place too http://seachangecanadiangifts.ca/
