73 Percent
Hodgson is highly underrated defensively and is and always will be 10x the hockey player Horvat will be.... Maybe if the Canucks selected Nichushkin or Domi, those 2 would have a CHANCE to be anywhere near Hodgson as players but Horvat is a 3rd line grinder this guy knows his stuff... Guest Dasein
Hodgson without doubt is the better offensive player. Horvat is without doubt a better 2-way player with a more complete game. Horvat today as an 18-year-old could clean Hodgson out in the faceoff dot. His skating at 18 is much better than Hodgson today. His defensive game was good enough to get a good look before getting sent down at age 18 - something Hodgson was not capable of. Having been sent down for another year, Horvat has a chance to develop his offensive skills and truly dominate the league before making the jump to the pros. Comparing Hodgson and Horvat is like comparing Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly. They're two ifferent players. EDIT: LOL sorry didn't even realize this is Hunter's thread. Hunter is a better offensive threat individually - Hodgson is a better offensive threat as a passer.
butcheraxehandlespear
you think Bergeron would be a minus 14 on that team? Yep, same reason why Vanek is a -3 so far this year and Tavares is a lifetime -38 with the Islanders. People who use +- to prove how good a player is defensively don't know a thing about hockey. For some of your last posts here, this is a whole pile of fail. Why are people talking about Coho in the Shinkaruk thread though?

People who use +- to prove how good a player is defensively don't know a thing about hockey. It's not perfect but yes, +/- indicates a player's overall defensive ability. Not being scored on means you will have a +20 rating no matter what the team you're on, check it.

LOL it judges all the players on the ice at the time not the individual player, rofl. +- is the most in accurate stat you can use to judge a player's defensive ability, period. Go read up on it on hfboards' "by the numbers" forum. Expert statisticians all agree that +- is not an accurate stat for the ability of a player.... you have no clue. http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1488741 Read this thread. Henrik Kesler
Hunter with two assists tonight! Thank you for getting this thread back on track. Seeing what Tomas Hertl is doing for the Sharks as a 19 year old makes me really hope Shinkaruk can make the jump next year.

UFCanuck
Thank you for getting this thread back on track. Seeing what Tomas Hertl is doing for the Sharks as a 19 year old makes me really hope Shinkaruk can make the jump next year. Hertl had played in a men's league for 2 years already. But there's no telling what a finisher like Shinkaruk could do if he played with the Sedins. Like Hertl they threw him right onto the top line. Psycho_Path
Hertl is a much bigger player and it shows. I do hope Hunter's body physically matures by the start of next season.
Joel Heyman
Hertl is a much bigger player and it shows. I do hope Hunter's body physically matures by the start of next season. Hertl is doing what I had dreamed Jensen could do: Succeed on the top line, albeit at a younger age. Shinkaruk has a much smaller body than Hertl but his skill is there. stonecoldstevebernier
Shinkaruk had a (shorthanded) goal and an assist tonight vs. Moose Jaw, bringing him to 3-3-6 in 3 games (same as Horvat).
elvis15
Tyson Giuriato @TysonGiuriato #Canucks prospect Hunter Shinkaruk grabbed a goal, assist and was plus-3 in tonight's @tigershockey win. Now had 6 points in 3 games. #Canucks prospect Hunter Shinkaruk goes end to end and snipes a short-handed goal from the slot.

I really hope next season has a youth revolution (Sinkaruk, Horvat, Gaunce, and Jensen making the team). Hunter is the dynamic scorer the Canucks have not had in forever, I just hope he can develop to his potential.
