I'd like to see this guy replace one of our fourth liners. If not him, then O'Brien or Smithson. You can't really have too many centers on your fourth line. If it turned out in the end to be Richardson Steckel Santorelli, that imo is far preferable to Sestito Richardson/Santorelli Weise. If Santorelli earns that 3C spot as it appears he may, or Richardson emerges, it still leaves a pair of proven depth centers for the fourth line. A second center on the fourth line only allows Steckel to be that much more aggressive in the faceoff circle... I'm just a bit tired of the stereotype/cookiecutter fourth line. If Horvat wins a spot in the end perhaps the point is moot, but if not...

The value of winning faceoffs and playing solid defensive hockey is greater imo than the value of giving the opposition a dance partner - I'd prefer guys who can win possession, put pressure on the opposition, gain exit from the defensive zone...

And regarding having to face Eager as was mentioned, I didn't miss what Kassian did to him...

If he was a more physical brand of player I would agree... he is a big relatively soft player who isn't likely to improve at his age. I think you will be amazed at the waiver possibilities this week.

3rd and 4th line guys will be available aplenty.

Steckel isn't a terrible pickup, just not much of an upgrade as what will be available.

Sedin Sedin Kassian

Higgins Kes Burr

Booth Santorelli Hansen

Richardson Steckel Weisse

Sestito Schroeder

I say that is one heck of a bottom 6 group with Sestito and Schroeds as spares. We were an excellent team with a face off and pk specialist. Steckel may not be Malhotra but he's as close as it gets.
