Ilya Mikheyev
Wild released David Steckel from his pro tryout, the team announced Friday. Steckel, a veteran of 419 NHL games, wasn't able to land a contract with an NHL team prior to training camp, a likely casualty of the salary cap decreasing about $6 million after last season. He spent training camp with the Wild on a tryout. Steckel is a 6-foot-6 center with a reputation as a good two-way forward and faceoff specialist. Ilya Mikheyev
At league minimum, come on! Steckel would be an awesome 4th liner/13th forward. 6'6 / good faceoff stats / can play LW or C / regularly paces for 15+ points / played college with Kesler / decent pro playoff numbers.. NikiShiz
Great face-off guy. Would be a good pick up if we have room.
Ilya Mikheyev
Steckel had 6 points, 30 hits, 57% faceoff, 11 blocked shots in 21 games with the Ducks. Then had 2 points in 7 playoff games. Sure, he didn't fit with Carlyle, but before and after he has good stats.

PRIMO88
lets get him. Then play a line with : Lain - Steckel- Sestito against any team we hate. I know it wouldn't happen nor would it work well for sure but id like to see it
Wheels22
Wouldn't mind his face-off abilities on our team, for depth anyways...
marleau_12
I don't get why we don't sign a faceoff specialist.
EternalCanuckFan
Despite his size, he's not particularly "tough". I wouldn't have minded the Canucks picking up over the summer or for depth right now but we're so loaded with contracts that there can't be any room for him. ice orca
Neither is Sestito. If we are gonna have a big guy who is like a punching bag, at least Steckel can skate and do well at face offs. Sestito needs to be replaced
TOMapleLaughs
Can't do anything but win draws, and on that he's not unbeatable either.
