Shot blocking is good, but doing so with improper technique or in the wrong situation can be disastrous. Keeping shots to the outside and keeping players out of the crease is often better than shot blocking.

The Vancouver Canucks will be without forward Alexandre Burrows for a couple of weeks according to head coach John Tortorella.

The coach would not get into specifics about the injury to Burrows, but it is believed to be a foot injury picked up blocking a shot in the season opening, 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

The 32-year-old forward played 18:34 for the Canucks in San Jose and finished with no points and a minus-1 rating.

Yeah Score messaged me to say that Burrows is out for a few weeks. So we're literally down to 3 top 6 forwards now. Might as well put Kesler with the Sedins and then have line 2 and 3 grind for the rest of the night.

This team is in serious trouble...
